Glyphs of Warding is a fairly complex and open ended cleric spell. The purpose of this file is to show how they work in this world.
Glyphs cannot overlap each other. To do so cancels out the first Glyph, replacing it with a second. It can be cast on an object that can be separated into small pieces. It can be cast on a dresser drawer, or even all the drawers as they are considered to be separate.
The Glyph can be password protected. If someone enters the area without saying the password, the Glyph is triggered.
The Glyph can be triggered based on physical and racial characteristics. It can be set to go off when an orc comes into contact with the Glyph, or any member of a specific race. However, it cannot be set to be triggered by vague groupings such as goblinoids or demi-humans as these cover multiple races. The Glyph cannot be set to be triggered by any particular individual. It can be set to be triggered by the presence of humans, but not humans with red hair or who are named Fred.
The Glyph can be set by size and height. Such as any being over 7' tall, or under 4' in height. Likewise you can have the trigger be anyone weighting over 300 pounds.
The Glyph can be set to affect only good or evil beings or non-good or non-evil beings. The Glyph can be set to affect only followers of a certain religion or to ignore the followers of a certain religion.
As the Priest gains levels, they can also tie other spells they can cast into their Glyphs. What spells they can use are listed below and will vary depending on their deity.
There are also numerous 'named' Glyphs that exist. These deliver a certain type of damage to a certain target. Feel free to come up with new Glyphs based on your priests' particular faith.
