The Frontier #118

Unfinished Business from last post:

The last three Seekers drink from the Fountain:

Mercy +1 Str

Bernice +1 Dex

Zynara +1 Int

Pad learns Alacrity, Locate Creature and Safeguarding from the dragon scrolls. The spells then disappear from the scrolls after Pad transfers them into his books.

Finrod's new spells:

1st Level: Enlarge, Comprehend Languages, Feather Fall

2nd Level: Blur, Spectral Hand, Improved Phantasmal Force

3rd Level: Blink, Protection from Normal Missiles, Dispel Magic, Fly, Leomund's Tiny Hut, Melf's Minute Meteors

4th Level: Wall of Fire, Wall of Ice, Improved Invisibility, Stoneskin, Fire Shield, Fire Trap, Ice Storm, Magic Mirror, Minor Globe of Invulnerability, Polymorph Self, Remove Curse, Dig, Otiluke's Resilient Sphere

You discover that all the coins and gems will just fit into Fin's Chest of Security! The other items are carefully packed up and readied for the trip back to Gateway.

Silvarn and the Couatl say their goodbyes as you leave.

The mages power up the teleport platform and the Seekers enter!

The familiar blue light fades from your eyes and you find yourself in an underground chamber. Much to your surprise, it is not the one in Gateway!!

First off the room much larger, a full 120' square of worked stone! There are no runes on the walls and even the pillars themselves are different. No destination runes are engraved on the top. Instead, there are impressions where objects appear to be needed to be inserted.

There is no one or thing in the immediate area.

Fearing to use this strange pillar formation, you decide to explore. Two passages lead off this room. One immediately leads to a cave in. The other leads to huge step going up. Each step is about 18 inches high!

You travel up the stairs gaining about 100 feet in altitude. The stairs arrive a huge underground level.

At that moment you hear an explosion from some distant place! It sounded like a Fireball. The sound came from up the stairs and you followed.

The stairs continued up to a huge hallway. The hall is 30' wide and 30' high! Immediately on your left is a huge door! It stands about 20' high!!

A small, "normal sized" door is set inside the large door. Muffled sounds of combat can be heard from beyond this door.

Opening the door you enter into a gigantic hall! It is 180' wide and 240' long! Furthermore, the ceiling is 90' high!! There are no outside windows in the hall, but colored, light emitting globes float freely throughout the hall.

The sounds of fighting are growing fainter, but appear to be coming from a door nearby in the hall.

Opening this door leads out into a courtyard. You see a band of 9 individuals standing over and near a man who is bound. The tied man wears plate armor bearing the symbol of Hextor!

Three priests are spotted among the nine. Two are of Tymora (luck), the other is of Azrella (healing).

They are quite surprised to see the Seekers!

Both groups are quiet, as if waiting for someone to break the ice.

As some of you may be aware of, I am combining my AD&D games. The party that you see before is the one from Sword of Doom. (Of course, you don't know that yet!)

Hopefully the merger will go smoothly!

Presenting for the first time the combined rosters from both groups!

SUBJ: Padraig (R) FROM: GM Shifty 11/27/91 S#: 17185

(Huge group. Let's go find an army to maul.)

Still not entirely up to speed on the political situation on this world, Pad decides to let someone else take the lead in the coming confrontation.

Pad is a 6' 5" tall human with wild red hair. He is currently dressed in a loincloth made of the remains of his robe. He carries an iron-shod staff.

SUBJ: Armon Flamehilt (R) FROM: Omni Tuens 11/27/91 S#: 38231

Armon tries to sneak a peek from a few spellbooks when he gets a chance, excluding Pad's, of course. He is sorry to part company with the fascinating Couatl, but eager to return to Gateway.

When the teleportation lands the group where it shouldn't, the bard starts in surprise. "This shouldn't have happened... we figured this out exactly!! Where are my notes again?"

His ramblings and digging in his pack are interrupted by the sound of a nearby battle. Extremely curious, he quickly hurries off towards the source, waiting only long enough to make sure everyone else follows.

Emerging on the scene, he finds several battle wearied (and bloodied) people standing about. Obviously the conflict is over, but the people aren't quite in a friendly mood yet. He starts cautiously, with a timid smile.

"Um..hello. I'm Armon, and these are the Seekers. Ah...where are we?"

By this time the rest should have caught up, and the bard quickly defers to someone senior.

Those looking will see a strikingly handsome young man, standing around six feet tall. He wears a bastard sword at his belt, and a flashy red cloak whips around him.

SUBJ: Omni Tuens FROM: Omni Tuens 11/27/91 S#: 10811

Omni is surprised that the priest of Hextor didn't yield, but grudgingly admires the man's courage. Before he can speak farther, however, a large group of people bursts into the room.

Knowing that numbers are against them and that his group is still tired and low on spells from the fight, he quickly decides against a battle unless it becomes necessary. His mind made up, he waits until the other group is fully in the room before turning to them, and speaking.

"Greetings. I am Omni Tuens, leader of the Company of the Sword, which you see before you. We come from Gateway, on a quest for the Crown. We are now in a keep far north of there, although I cannot pinpoint its location for you. What fortune brings you here?"

Omni is a tall human, with a great sword sheathed on his back. The tabard covering his chain mail was once of fine quality, but is currently tattered from numerous battles. He holds himself proudly despite numerous wounds he suffered in the last battle, which clerics were unable to heal due to a common disease he suffers, bullheadedosis. A signet ring on one hand indicates a possibly noble heritage, or at least a well-off family.

SUBJ: Claudius.. (R) FROM: GM Falcon 11/28/91 S#: 16951

Claudius frowns deeply as the teleport backfires. "Shoulda known better than to trust that thing too much." He glances at Pad: "What happened?"

When the other party is encountered, Claudius frowns, and then spots symbols of allied gods on the clerics. He listens to their leader, and responds slowly:

"Well, I'm Claudius, co-leader of the Seekers out of Gateway." He looks around. "Are you responsible for bringing us here?" he asks.

If any of his party moves to draw a weapon, he'll raise a hand to stop them..for now at least.

SUBJ: Claudius.. (R) FROM: GM Falcon 11/28/91 S#: 16957

Later, assuming things end well, he will retreat to private quarters with the Seekers. "We're going to have to split the items, you know..", he announces. "Anyone who can, memorize ID spells. I'll also start taking re- quests once we know anything.."

He looks at Steph for assurance on that course of action.

SUBJ: Crandor.. FROM: GM Falcon 11/28/91 S#: 16959

Wearily, Crandor looks at the Hextor priest. He's about ready to draw his sword and slit the :kofs: throat, when the thirteen wander through the portal.

Swords drawn, he whirls, waiting for the fight his group probably can't win. He watches coldly as the other leader (Claud) speaks, and leans over: "I don't like this..", he hisses.

SUBJ: Fiben Bolger FROM: FatalCharm 11/28/91 S#: 38524

(FIBE-en Bowl-Gear)

Sheesh, is this a party or an army?

Forget finding an army to maul, lets establish an empire! Ok, ok, getting carried away... ;>

Fiben is one of the last to leave the jungle, as he is still hanging out in the trees on his ridiculous monkey watch. Sure that he has heard them screech in the night, he just thought he'd be able to catch one. But as the party leaves, Fiben finally runs, grabs up his backpack, and catches up to the Seekers.

He bounds up in a happy jovial mood, doing little Elven dance steps. The heck with the monkey, certain things have gone well, and he feels good. Can't wait to get back to Gateway and get himself organized.

But when Gateway isn't where we end up, Fiben kicks himself for not memorizing some of his new spells. He thought he was going to Gateway where he wouldn't be in dire need of them. And now he is spell-less in a strange land.

Although events of late have caused Fiben to grow in courage and confidence, considering the SIZE of this place, and especially the size of the DOORS, the last thing Fiben would think wise is to charge on to the seen of an unknown battle. But as the party charges through the doors, Fiben decides he's definitely not staying out in the hallway by himself.

As we enter upon the scene, Fiben attempts to Blend in and Hide in the Shadows. This place is strange and Fiben wants to see what is going on before the others see HIM.

When Fiben does reveal himself, you see an Elf of medium size and build with long jet black hair cascading over his shoulders and down his back, and eyes as blue as the sky. He is wearing soft brown boots, black breeches, dark blue tunic with silver colored trim, black vest with dark gray trim, and a black cloak. On his back is a Short Bow and quiver. At his side hangs a Long Sword, a Belt Pouch, and some rope. He's carrying a backpack too.

As usual, he stays silent at first letting the leaders talk. When introductions are made, he throws around some Thieves Cant just to see who else understands it.

Sign me: The Shadow-Walker

SUBJ: Padraig FROM: GM Shifty 11/28/91 S#: 422580

Pad watches as the leaders of the 2 companies make their initial cautious greetings. He then notices one of the men in the other group as familiar to him. He stares a while and becomes more certain. Stepping forward, he calls out, "Crandor? Is that you?"

SUBJ: Tania (R) FROM: Enchantres 11/28/91 S#: 447052

'Wow!' is about all I can say when we arrive at the wrong place. 'Ye mean't to do that, did ye?'

This place is huge! 'I bet that giants used to live here!'

::shudders at the thought::

I merely follow the others as we make our way through this big ol' place! When the other group is encountered, I hang near the rear and will introduce myself when appropriate.

'Hi! I'm Tania, Priestess of Mystra and a mage!' Those looking see a lady half-elf who's about 5'5" with short brown hair and green eyes. Tania seems to be very perky!

'So that's a Priest of Hextor? Nasty!'

SUBJ: Argent (R) FROM: Enchantres 11/28/91 S#: 395468

'Allow me, Omni..' I say when the Priest still refuses to talk. 'I can be-- most persuasive.'

Then the doors fly open and all these people come out! I relax when I see Priests of Mystra among them, fully knowing that Mystra is the Good Lady of Magic. Although I wander about the man in the loincloth. He must be cold! ;D

When Omni starts the talks going, I'll step in to supply a few facts.

'The name is Argent.' Argent is a short woman with long, curly brown hair and brown eyes. She wears a flattering dress with a dangerously plunging neckline. Many pieces of jewelry cover her form.

'We are currently in the North Ending area. This is the fortress of one Lord Karn, the last known wielder of the Sword of Doom. The high mage of Gateway himself, Sharadin, sent us on this mission to recover the sword. We did not cause you to appear here in any fashion. In fact, how did you get here?'

'Crandor? Do you know this man?', I saw then the man in the loin cloth speaks. 'Interesting.'

SUBJ: Crandor... (R) FROM: GM Falcon 11/29/91 S#: 42287

Crandor steps forward protectively when Argent approaches, instinctively putting a hand on her shoulder as he stares with some malevolence at the other party. He hasn't forgotten the afternoon of..purring..the two shared, and he isn't adverse to trying a relationship out.

When loincloth speaks, Crandor begins: "I CERTAINLY dou..", but then he stops. "Well, you have my name right, friend, but..", he looks closely. No, far too old, but maybe if he's been here awhile.. "Padraig?" He looks very confused.

SUBJ: Claudius.. (R) FROM: GM Falcon 11/29/91 S#: 10099

Claudius, meanwhile, listens to a woman with obviously casual feelings about certain things, seeing as her neckline is so low, talking. "Sharadin?", the mage queries. "Yes, we know of Sharadin. One of our mages here has had a lot of conta.." He watches Pad stare at one of the other members, a man in leather with an obviously un- pleasant attitude. He listens to the two talk, and frowns: "Friend of yours?"

SUBJ: Omni (R) FROM: Omni Tuens 11/29/91 S#: 64228

Omni proceeds cautiously with the meeting, not wanting to scare anyone into conflict. He's a bit surprised when one of the men that just arrived recognizes Crandor.

"Crandor...do you know this man? A friend of yours from... from where ever it is you're from?"

The warrior is keeping himself dignified, but confusion is creeping onto his face also now.

SUBJ: Padraig FROM: GM Shifty 11/29/91 S#: 455440

Pad steps up and holds out his hand to Crandor. "Yes, it's me. I just recently regained my proper age. So recently, in fact, that I haven't had a chance to get some properly sized clothes yet. How did you end up on this plane?"

Looking at the rest of Crandor's party, Pad introduces himself, "As some of you may have guessed, I am also from the other world where Crandor started out. I ended up here as a result of a Teleport spell gone awry during a magical disturbance. Since then, I have been lending a hand to the Seekers. They are also working out of Gateway at the behest of Sharadin. We were investigating a set of teleportational artifacts of your Elders and accidentally wound up in the cellar of this keep."

SUBJ: Perrel... FROM: GM Kill 11/29/91 S#: 341

When the newcomers burst through the doors, I groan inwardly, thinking that the priest must've been trying to stall us while these people moved in to attack us.

I quickly get to my feet, and realize that they might be able to finish the job too, after all the spells we just cast, and all the damage the party took.

As I eye them warily, and see them doing the same, I notice that they don't seem hostile, although somewhat confused.

Finally, after seeing Omni introduce the party, and start talking with them, I think that maybe things will be all right after all.

I wander over by Schar though, and put my arm around her waist.

"Well, it appears they're friendly, shall we say hello?" I ask her, while eyeing them cautiously.

When I see that Crandor possibly knows one of them, I think to myself. "Great, if he's a friend, he's probably just as grumpy as Crandor is. Sigh..."

While this is going on, I also keep watch on the priest of Hextor out of the corner of my eye, and if he starts to try and get away while this distraction is going on, I'll chase him and tackle him hard.

Those seeing Perrel, see an attractive half elf, with brown hair, blue eyes, and a thin moustache, dressed in a white silk shirt, black trousers, soft black boots, with a purple sash about his waist, and a purple headband about his forehead.

SUBJ: Schar (R) FROM: Schar 11/29/91 S#: 396988

I am not with the others near the evil priest having no desire to be part of his interrogation. When the strangers arrive, I do come running back.

The strangers (Seekers) see an attractive young woman with blonde hair and blue eyes. She's about 5'6". Schar wears no armor, just pants, a white, frilly blouse and low boots. A dark blue cloak is about her shoulders.

I listen quietly as Omni talks to their apparent leader. As I listen, I feel Perrel put his arms around me.

"I agree, they seem to be another group working for the kingdom. Perhaps they're here to help us?"

I follow Perrel over.

"Hi, I'm Schar, Priestess of Azrella, the Patron of Healing."

When I see the man in the loincloth, and knowing how cold it is, I go over to him.

"I'll lend you my cloak until we can find something proper for you to wear. There is an entire wardrobe within the keep! Are any of you in need of healing?"

SUBJ: Stephanie (R) FROM: Saphfire 11/29/91 S#: 12722

Like most of the other Seekers, I'm surprised to wind up in the giants basement! Lightning is in my hand in flash, but no foes are around. Eventually we encounter the others...

"Hextor!!", I scream when I see the evil priest and Lightning is drawn once more. "Die you vile scum!!" Unless restrained, I'll kill the priest! Do not like them, no siree! ;D

Regardless of what happens, Lightning remains in my hands for the moment.

"I am Stephanie, the other leader of the Seekers."

Steph is large, muscular woman. She tops out a 6 feet and wears chain mail over a scarlet red blouse. Thigh high black boots cover her legs. A longsword and shield is in her hand. Her long hair is jet black as is her eyes.

"We too are from Gateway."

I return the glare given by this Crandor person iota for iota. Just waiting for him to try something!

Seeing that combat appears to not be coming, I'll finally sheath my sword. I grin when the priest offers Pad her cloak.

"Better take it, Pad! You're distracting all the women with your physique!" ;D

Later when Claudius talks of our treasures, I nod in agreement.

SUBJ: Argent FROM: Enchantres 11/29/91 S#: 17218

Argent jumps slightly when she feels a touch on her shoulder. Turning, she smiles back at Crandor. Argent watches the reunion with Crandor and his skimpily dressed friend.

'You're Padraig?! Crandor has told me about you. You are a powerful mage?'

I get very interested when he starts to talk about the teleporter. So much so, that I no longer feel the eyes of a certain spellcaster on me! ;D

'Are you saying that the platform can be used to travel wherever you wish? I was under the impression that each pillar was "keyed" to a location. And that you need to find the "keys" to set the platform to that location. Lord Karn used the platform to hide the keys to the other pillars that will eventually lead us to the Sword of Doom. We've got four more sets of keys to find before we can go after the sword itself! Perhaps if you are going to stay around for a while, perhaps you can help us out with a few problems? It seems that the wizard of this Keep set up several defense to keep us out of his areas. We're slowly making our way past them, but it's taking to long. He's got a lab and library that you would not believe!'

Argent pauses to catch her breathe and let Pad get a word in edgewise! ;D

SUBJ: Padraig (R) FROM: GM Shifty 11/30/91 S#: 37185

Pad gratefully accepts the cloak from Schar, although the height difference between them still leaves is legs bare. "Thank you for the kindness, Schar. My impromptu clothing was not a problem on the tropical island where we just were. It is significantly colder here."

At Steph's comment, Pad just grins at her. "I seriously doubt my physique is all that distracting, Steph."

(As a note, except for his CON, none of Pad's physical stats are impressive.)

As Argent rambles on, Pad's grin grows, "Yes, I am indeed a great and powerful mage." Pad laughs.

"The teleporter artifact is a grid arrangement. You cannot go anywhere you choose. You may only transfer between points on the grid. The grid also appears to have been built over a period of time. We have seen several 'generations' of the base design. The one under Gateway, for example, is extremely crude. This one that requires objects as keys is probably one of the more advanced designs, the keys having been added as a security measure."

Pad's interest is perked in turn by Argent's mention of a library and laboratory. "Really? That would be interesting to examine. You say there are defenses you haven't pierced yet? Perhaps we could settle down here for a while and work on them."

SUBJ: Crandor.. (R) FROM: GM Falcon 11/30/91 S#: 56346

Crandor instinctively begins to rub Argent's shoulders, protectively, as the two sides continue their cautious negotiations. He returns this tall woman's glower, and thinks to himself: 'Barbarian..'

He continues listening to Pad, and leans over to Omni: "I think so, yes. It sounds like him, though now his voice has broken (). He looks over, and calls out: "'Padraig', what was your answer to the battle with the undead dragon?"

When the mages begin talking, he is quickly lost. He glances at Omni again, and shrugs slightly in non-comprehension.

SUBJ: Claudius. FROM: GM Falcon 11/30/91 S#: 35041

First: Unfinished business

Attempt to learn-

1) Burning Hands, Enlarge, Phant Force

2) Invisibility, Magic Mouth, Strength

3) Blink, Fly, Haste, Invisible 10', Phantom Steed, Spectral Force, Water Breathing

Claudius listens to Pad and Argent talk, finding very little to really add to their discussion. His desire for information soon dispels his caution, so he listens intently to everyone's story. He chances a smile at Pad's old friend, gets scowled at, and goes on.

He looks to Omni: "Well, if we both serve the Crown, then maybe we can work together on this. What is this sword? What can it do? What does it look like? Do you know where it is? Overall, he keeps bombarding the other leader with questions.

SUBJ: Argent (R) FROM: Enchantres 11/30/91 S#: 419587

Argent listens carefully to what Pad adds about the platforms. She's so into the conversation that she really doesn't notice Crandor's shoulder work! ;D

'Interesting... Yes, it does appear to be later model. Also, we did not need spells to power it. Once the keys were in place it just turned on and opened a gateway! Our first use of the pillars took us to the lair of a white dragon on the Island of Everwinter! We had hoped to bypass the pillar quest, but found the weather to hospitable to attempt to reach civilization from the lair and charter a ship. The next pillar should take us to a swamp if I've deciphered the clues correctly. This should also peak your interest-- We did not use any spells to work the formation upon return. We step back on the platform and were teleported back to the castle. The other pillars are keyed to various locations around the world! That does not seem to fit in with your grid pattern... Unless... Perhaps this formation is doubly keyed! In one mode it fits into your grid formation. Cast the spells on the desired pillar and off you go to the next part of the grid. Place the keys into the pillars and it works to set secondary locations. Perhaps the gateway remains open until the keys are later removed. That could explain how we were able to return with any problem. That would also allow us to use the pillars and return to Gateway!'

On the subject of the library: 'There appears to have been a mage school here before. The library is huge, everything is huge here, but anyway it is over a small lab mixed in with several personal cubical. Two of the towers were inhabited by high-level mages, a man and a woman. The woman was the lest powerful of the two. The entrance to her tower was Wizard Locked. I Knocked it and then secured the hatch open with chains! Her tower had a smaller lab and living area. In fact these clothes and jewels belonged to her! The man's tower was much more difficult! He sealed the stairways with Walls of Stone! We tried to Dispel them but no go. I did penetrate by casting Wraithform on myself and slipping in a crack. ::remembers what happened after that and does not continue that train of thought!:: Anyway, this guy had a huge mage lab! It was filled with all sorts of interesting magic items. Haven't gotten around to examining them yet! We were attacked by the prisoner and his pals. They killed poor Mastiff's familiar!! ::points to the half-elf with the dead cat in his arms::

Argent pauses once more to catch her breath.... ;D

SUBJ: FINROD (R) FROM: SGT STONEY 11/30/91 S#: 396841

When the pillars dump the seekers somewhere other than Gateway, the elven multiclass just shrugs his leather-covered shoulders. Long years ago, his parents taught him that sometimes magic will take an unexpected and unexplained twist. Obviously, this is one of those times. He follows the impetuous Armon at a more careful pace, his mouth set in a small grim smile. The bard makes a heck of a trap-finder tripping along like that.

Upon emerging into the courtyard where the Doomsters have vanquished the Hextorites, his clever blue eyes take in the situation quietly. He is pleased to see a captured enemy priest, for good intelligence of the enemy's dispositions is always hard to find. Suddenly, however, his gorgeous wife leaps toward the source of information, Lightning raised high. Reacting with its usual quickness, his wiry body darts between the object of his affection and her target, arms raised. "Wait! Steph! NO!" His spouse, however, always so focused and unshakeable (it's part of what he loves about her, after all) attempts to strike around him and cleave the Cleric anyway. Fin's hand blocks her elbow, throwing her aim off. He grasps her arm firmly, forcing her to acknowledge his presence, and their eyes lock - blue and black dueling in places beyond words. After a long moment of silence, the mercenary whispers a quiet "Later, OK? I'll help." He waits for her answer.

Later, when introductions are exchanged, Finrod Fasthand is pleased to meet the Company of the Sword. He had heard stories of their exploits in the taverns of Gateway, and had responded with stories of the Seekers' own adventures... a source of no few free drinks.

Above average height for his race, Finrod is still overtopped by all but the shortest of the humans. His carriage, though, is of one much larger than mere feet or inches. It is obvious he is accustomed to command, and one might wonder why he defers to Steph and Claude. The answer, of course, is that as a military man and mercenary, the Elven multiclass is not willing to lead a group as free-wheeling and independent as adventurers...they just don't have the discipline he requires of troops. And besides: it takes a good follower to be a good leader. It also helps that Stephanie is his wife, and that Claude has become a good and respected friend.

In appearance, Finrod is a neat and cultured elf, dressed entirely in black and silver, from his tooled weapon sheathes to the studded leather of his armor, and the light cloak he breaks out of the incredibly small backpack (also black and gray) on his back, to counter the chill of this place. Seems that he shouldn't be able to fit all the gear an adventurer needs in that small pack.

SUBJ: More Finrod FROM: SGT STONEY 11/30/91 S#: 453965

"Armon," Fin says in an amused voice "I am surprised that in all the time you spend tossing back ales in the dives of Gateway, you have not heard of the Doomsters. Doubtless the more socially active of their members have listened to the songs you have made of our own exploits."

"I am pleased to meet up with you all. Tell me," he continues, "are any of your members fellow worshippers of Sacred Steel? I long for at least one sword-brother companion."

Once the formalities of introductions have been completed, Finrod listens for a little to the discussions Paddy is having about the pillars, but his interest in magic is applied magic, not theory, so after a while he turns instead to the leader of the Doomsters, and drawing Steph off with that worthy fellow, and Claude too, if he can be dragged from the Magic Theory seminar.

"Look, folks, I think it best that we join forces. After all, were we Seekers not supposed to explore and map the grid? Seems that would further the Doomsters' goal, as well as our own. But for now, the important thing is to hole up in a secure spot for a day or so while we assess our new items and distribute them. While that goes on, I would like time to interrogate this Hextorite. I am somewhat of an expert at this, and some of my methods are even watchable by the Lawful Goods." ::Flash of a quick grin:: "Seriously, I think I may be able to get something out of him."

Armon: You may notice sometimes that my spellbook doesn't always get put away right off in the mornings. And if I turn away to eat breakfast, well, I can't help it if you just happen to see a couple of spells lying open, now, can I? ;)

Pad grins at Crandor, "Come on, Crandor. Who would try to pull the wool over your eyes by pretending to be me on this plane? We made mutton of Rishrac's undead dragon."

Pad continues to ramble on about the possible workings of the pillars. He soon launches into theoretical magical concepts that (at least in places) will fly over the heads of the listeners.

SUBJ: Fiben (R) FROM: FatalCharm 12/01/91 S#: 48422

When the Priestess offers Padraig her cloak, Fiben looks down at his own black cloak, and blushes. This time he doesn't blush in embarrassment, but in shame at his own thoughtlessness.

He interrupts...

"No! Padraig let the lady keep her cloak. Take mine, it's the least I can do! This one, as you can see, goes within a few inches of the ground (on me anyways) and ties about the neck to form a hood. Its made to wrap around and totally cover the body if necessary. If I need to do any night- time reconnaissance missions, I'll need it back, but otherwise, wear it till you find something more suitable. I'd be honored to be able to help out and I apologize for being so wrapped up in my own fortune."

When the talk turns to pillars and grids and advanced magical theory, Fiben is quickly overwhelmed and starts eyeing the surrounding area to see what there is to see. Then he keeps is eyes on the Evil Priest to make sure he doesn't try anything sneaky while the others are distracted by their conversations.

(Yea, so I'm a thief, so was Robin Hood. To my friends, I give.) ;D

SUBJ: Claudius (R) FROM: GM Falcon 12/01/91 S#: 403969

Claudius glances briefly at Finrod as he murmurs about the idea of merging the companies. He turns again to Pad and Argent for an instant, and decides he can always get information later. People needed him.

He wandered over with Finrod, Steph and Omni (I assume), and sat down on a handy rock:

"We have ALOT to discuss..", he begins. He then waits for (hopefully) more information on the sword quest.

SUBJ: Crandor FROM: GM Falcon 12/01/91 S#: 408516

Crandor GRINS at Padraig as he gives the correct response. "Pad! It's been FAR too long!" He grins, and grasps the mage's hand firmly.

"My story is not dissimilar. After the Great War I wished to rest for a while, so I retreated to the Doomaran forests that had survived, no matter how pitifully. One night I slept under the ruined trees of the Doomaran Empire, and woke up in the wasteland of a necromancer.. I found these people dueling him. Certainly the gods work in strange ways."

When he sees Omni go off (unless, of course, he declines) with not one but THREE of their people, he rubs Argent's shoulders once almost roughly to get her attention, murmurs: "I'll be back", then starts trailing the quartet. Not getting directly involved, but wary of an ambush.

SUBJ: GM Notes: FROM: GM Mad 12/01/91 S#: 408653

SUBJ: Mastiff FROM: Mastiff1 12/01/91 S#: 47604

Mastiff sits and watches as the groups' eyes each other. Petting Ashes Mastiff realizes that she has gotten quite stiff. "I can bury you now, Ashes." Mastiff puts her back in his pouch and goes to introduce himself to the new group. "Hello my name is Mastiff." he says as hey shakes hands with all who shake. Then he returns to where he was sitting.

He only glances up when he hears his name mentioned by Argent, his cold gray eyes wet with tears. He gets and slowly walks out of the castle.

Mastiff is a 5'8 half-elf with dark brown hair and granite gray eyes. He's not very muscular weighs about 145lbs,though he moves with a feline grace when he walks.

(Mastiff is a Mage/Thief)

SUBJ: Perrel... FROM: GM Kill 12/02/91 S#: 58163

(Ooops, got a little confused, that's what I get for going to answer an OLM after I read the post. ;) )

I wander over with Schar, and give a slight bow to the Seekers.

"My name is Perrel, and I'm a swashbuckler whose devoted to two ladies. One being Tymora, whose luck is neverending, and the other being this enchanting lady here." I say while wrapping my arm around Schar's waist.

I look at the man in the loin cloth, and I wonder whether mages have any common sense at all.

"Um...if you're indeed cold, might I mention that it would be warmer inside, out of the wind." I say to the fellow.

When I see Omni wandering off with the three folks from the other party, I think about going with, but seeing Crandor going after them, I realize that Omni should be fine.

"Schar, Argent, why don't you take everyone inside, and see about getting them rooms and..."I say while looking at Padraig."...some clothing."

"I'll stay here and watch the prisoner, until Omni decides what to do with him." I say, before hugging Schar, and giving her a passionate kiss. Then, I move over by the prisoner, lean up against the wall, and watch him carefully.

SUBJ: Padraig (R) FROM: GM Shifty 12/02/91 S#: 1902

Nods absently at Perrel's remark about inside being warmer. "No, that's really not necessary on my account," he replies. Pad then drops a Fireshield on himself.

SUBJ: Schar FROM: Schar 12/02/91 S#: 40120

"You are most welcome" I say to Pad. "I am pleased to be of aid."

I listen to what Perrel adds and nod my agreement.

"Good idea, darling. Everyone! Shall we retire into the keep? It is much warmer and there is more then enough room for all! I'd wager that there are enough quarters for everyone to have his own room. Perhaps Argent would be good enough to fix a meal? She is an excellent cook! Come! Let's go inside."

SUBJ: Stephanie FROM: Saphfire 12/02/91 S#: 13251

Steph glares right back at Crandor and mutters "Forest Crawler" under her breath.

Her eyes lock with her beloved Fin's when he stops her from giving the evil priest what he deserves. After a moment she relents.

"Very well. Until later."

I then sheath Lightning but appear uneasy. I follow along with Claud and Fin when they go to discuss matters with this Omni fellow.

SUBJ: Armon (R) FROM: Omni Tuens 12/03/91 S#: 458521

Armon grins and nods at Fin's comments, although he's mostly quiet now, and studying the other group...not what he would have expected, based on what he heard of the group leaving Gateway.

He stands mostly in the background, fiddling with a dagger.

SUBJ: Omni (R) FROM: Omni Tuens 12/03/91 S#: 423976

Omni continues to watch Crandor, and as it's apparent the man believes Padraig to be 'genuine', he decides it should be safe.

"An excellent idea, Perrel! It is quite cold out here. Let's everyone head inside. Oh..." he looks at the prisoner, considering him. "Make sure he's secure, as are the doors, then leave him here. Maybe we can chill his faith a little."

Once inside, he'll seek a private audience with the leader(s) of the Seekers, as there seems to be several of them. He starts their talks with a smile.

"It is indeed good to meet with allies at such an unusual place and time. But tell me: What news of Gateway? We have had neither word from there, or rest in a town, since we departed. Would it be possible for us to be teleported there? It would be...highly beneficial."

The fighter then pauses, taking a breath before he continues.

"When we left Gateway we were given two charges. The first to uncover the Sword of Doom and recover it if possible. The second, to prevent a group working opposite us from recovering it. I believe we have done the second... the Hextor priest is proof of that. We have also learned that the Sword of Doom is a ship. Knowing this, I feel before the Company of the Sword continues, it should have the judgment of Gateway."

"Should the Quest to recover the Sword of Doom continue?"

SUBJ: Out of Character (R) FROM: Omni Tuens 12/03/91 S#: 410559

Actually, I just wanted a chance to be (R40)... but hey!! Here's a few REALLY good questions...

1) What IS Kill doing, anyway?

2) Who IS the official leader(s)of the Seekers, acting leader(s), assistant(s), and lieutenant(s)?

3) Why did Mad decide to end the Sword of Doom on post # 69 ???

SUBJ: (Seekers leaders) (R) FROM: GM Falcon 12/03/91 S#: 415450

I suppose if Validar should return, he'd resume leadership of the Seekers. He is the son of the Baron of Pyris, methinks. (A player-character, Omni)

For now, Steph and I are co-leaders. If we go down, then I would think Finrod would leap into things.

SUBJ: (Fin's view on Leaders) (R) FROM: SGT STONEY 12/03/91 S#: 27021

Validar is unquestionably the leader of the Seekers. Fin follows him through hard-won respect. (They did NOT get along for several months when first they met)

Claude and Steph are serving as COORDINATORS of things, for now. In a group as loose-knit and ill disciplined as the Seekers, it is the best that can be hoped for.

Regardless of who is in charge, Fin is accustomed to being listened to. His ideas are always advanced as suggestions, not orders. But so far, whatever leader is running things has taken his suggestions to heart with little change.

*****

Remember, of course: this is only one mercenary multi-class elf's view of things. ;)

SUBJ: Fiben (R) FROM: FatalCharm 12/03/91 S#: 842850

"Our leaders?"

::Looks left. Looks right::

::turns slowly in a circle looking at everyone::

"We have leaders?"

::shrugs::

(Ok, seriously)

When Fiben meets Mastiff, (sorry if its spelled wrong) he throws around a little thieves cant and is pleased when Mastiff answers in kind. And not only a thief is he, but a mage/thief too, like himself. "Well met, Mastiff!"

::shaking hands::

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

OOC: Just kidding. ;D

Omni, LOL! :X

SUBJ: Perrel... (R) FROM: GM Kill 12/04/91 S#: 398457

(See, on the right post this time. ;D)

(As for what I'm up to, it's called screwing up! And I seem to excel at it. ;) )

I head over and make sure the prisoner is securely bound; including gagged, before I head in after the others.

"Omni, the prisoner is secured and accounted for. Want me to go recount him?" I say with a sly smile, before bouncing off to join Schar again.

I walk up behind Schar, wrap my arms around her waist, and hug her close.

"Need some help getting all these people situated?" I ask, before joining in the effort.

I'll then take anyone who wants to follow on a tour of the available rooms, and tell them to choose which one they want.

SUBJ: Mercy FROM: Mercy1 12/04/91 S#: 840531

Mercy stands off to the side. The owl design on his banded mail shining in the light. The design is that of a gray owl much like the one sitting on his shoulder.

When the intros are made, Mercy removes his helm letting his black streaked snow-white hair fall about his shoulders. "Well Met and Wise Thoughts!" he says as he greets everyone with a hearty handshake. "This is Bright Eyes my owl friend. She's always shy around new people. Say Hello Bright Eyes."

Description:

Mercy is a 5'7" 150lbs (1/2)Drow elf, that seems to have more Drow features than human. But his winning smile and sharp blue eyes contradict his parentage. He wears black banded mail and carries a serious mourning star (Name: Common Sense) at his side, and the symbol of Mortidus around his neck.

Quote: "I like to beat Common Sense into my enemies."

SUBJ: Argent FROM: Enchantres 12/04/91 S#: 37131

I nod when Schar suggests that we all go inside and get some chow. 'The kitchen here is well stocked.'

I continue to speak to Pad. I'm amazed when he actually looses me in some places! Argent has rarely meant anyone who understands magic as well as she does! (Been the only high-level mage in the Company for a long time!)
