Sharadin considers all the additional input and announces that the Guild will indeed keep an eye out for possible apprentices.
Sherry and Terry warmly greet Armon when the bard announces himself.
"Our last encounter was interesting!", one of the girls says and both start to giggle uncontrollably.
Terry follows Fiben around for a day before she changes her attitude. She is rather cross with Fiben for "using magic to try and make friends!" as she puts it.
"Are you that insecure that you must resort to trickery to get the attention of a pretty girl? If you had been nice to me, I would have been nice to you. But now, how can I ever trust you?"
[Sherry noticed her twins odd behavior and did some checking. She Dispelled the effect.]
"Something just didn't seem right with the situation", Sherry adds.
Both girls are in the classic mold of blonde hair/blue eyed beauties. They both flirt outrageously with attractive men, but don't go further then that. After all they still have to answer to "daddy dear"!
Both girls "assist" Fiben in his spell learning.
"Spider Climb?", they say mildly disgusted. "Why would you want that? I mean FLY is SO much nicer!"
[Fiben blows his roll for Spider Climb, but gains Alterself, Deeppockets and Knock.]
As the group gets ready to head down to Kingsport, Argent announces that she is leaving and dpearts.
Captain Shea presents the group with a young lady by the name of Kit.
"Kit's a scout. She'll get you down to Kingsport safely. I doubt that you'll have any difficulties traveling within the Kingdom, but you never can be too careful."

Say hello to the new PC! ;)
When Pad mentions turning Armon into a newt, Sharadin responds with; "Not a very ethical solution, but..." ;)
There is a growing movement to rename the overall group and select leaders. Two have been suggested by Finrod. Perhaps you can use this post to settle this?
Also, the old Company has their own magic items to give out yet.
These include:
Oil of Ethrealness
Potion of Vitality
Potion of Treasure Finding
Scroll: Protection from Dragons Breath
Cloak +2
2 Potions Extra Healing
4 Potions of Healing
4 Rings +1
2 Daggers +1
Bracers Ac 6
Footman's Mace +1
Happy New Year! :)
SUBJ: Fiben (R) FROM: FatalCharm 01/01/92 S#: 516066
Uh oh! I'm busted! :O Sheesh mad, yer no fun! Just kiding ;D
As the twins confront Fiben about his trickery, the heat rises in his neck as the blood rushes to his face. He has been known to blush on occasion, but never like this! And now he hangs his head in shame. Not so much shame at what he did, but shame in himself for being so in- secure as to have to do it.
After a moment, he slowly raises his head and looks Terry in the eye. Slowly, "You have every right to be angry with me. What I did was unfair. But if you never speak to me again, will you at least allow me one chance to explain why I did it? Please." Assuming she gives him the one chance to explain, he takes her some place where he can have a very PRIVATE conversation and begins...
"First just for the record, I had every intention of Dispelling the effects myself, once I learned how or once I found someone to do it for me. With the potion I used, I had a chance to try Charming you into letting me have my 'way with you'. But I didn't and I never would do that to you, even if your father wasn't Sharadin. I respect and admire you to much." Then slower, with painful effort he continues, "As for WHY I did it, yes I AM insecure. Is that so wrong? Before I joined the Seekers I spent most of my life in seclusion with my family.
Before then I'd never been around a beautiful woman...Except for my mother of course. When I came to gateway, you and Sherry were one of the first things to ever make a big impression on me." Now even slower, and sadder, "And now that I've been accepted as part of the Seekers, I still feel lost in a crowd. Just another greenie. ...And...I miss my family. ::sigh:: All I really wanted was someone to feel close to. Every available man around wants your hand it seems, how can I compete with that? When I said I enjoy being with you, it wasn't a line it was the simple truth. And the flowers, they weren't much, but they WERE from the heart."
"And one more thing. Now it seems I may be facing a Lich soon. ::shudder:: I may never return. I guess I just hoped after my death, someone would remember me. You've probably heard all this before, but I hope I can make you trust me again. I think I'd rather suffer your fathers wrath, than forever more know that you are mad at me."
"You're friendship means alot to me."
Do his eyes look almost watery at this point? Hmmmmm.
SUBJ: Fiben 2 FROM: FatalCharm 01/01/92 S#: 461848
(Sorry these have been so long lately. :D )
His response to Sherry is a little different though. He speaks bitterly to her, "The situation 'didn't seem right?' Didn't seem right that your sister could be attracted to a lousy Rogue like me??? Or an Elf? Who do you think YOU are? Just because you were lucky to be born pretty, and to a powerful man, doesn't mean :bleep:: to me!"
He gives Sherry the cold shoulder for, oh, about a couple hours. He can't hold grudges to long, not when he was the one in the wrong. Basically he is just upset that everything was ruined and that he was embarrassed so.
Fiben is pleased that apparently the girls don't hate him to much to help him with his spells, even if they do get sarcastic with him. To which he replies, with a far away look in his eyes, "You are SO right. Since I was a child and saw my first bird, I've had a life long dream to learn to fly. In fact, in the beginning it was my main reason for learning the ways of magic. Though I have other reasons now too. But unfortunately, I have not yet become powerful enough to learn the magic of flight." ::sigh::
(Its outa my level)
As far as the leaders are concerned, Fiben thinks there should be three leaders to help break any tied votes, ect. Or maybe a leader and two assistants, or two leaders and one assistant. He has no nominations, he likes the leaders we have. ::shrug::
Time to start re-packing his backpacks and preparing to go, the sooner the better! If they are going to meet anymore important people, he'll change back into his good outfit, complete with his bone and tooth necklaces. Fiben also volunteers to help carry supplies to be loaded. Hopefully he'll be kept busy so he doesn't have to face Terry to often, though he still wants her company.
Mail From: Omni Tuens Date: Thursday 2-Jan-92 05:12 EST
As far as treasure distribution goes, Omni meant exactly as he said:
If the Company doesn't want it, and then the Seekers don't want it, give it to the Guild. As far as what the hell Armon is doing: He's cast Alter Self on himself and phantasmal force for the gnoll, as a method of testing his spells...
in other words, he's playing. ;)
SUBJ: Claudius.. (R) FROM: GM Falcon 01/02/92 S#: 422818
Claudius listens to the growing movement to unify the parties, and frowns. Unification required trust, and though trusting strangers had never been excessively difficult, there were exceptions to the rule.
Then again, in a clan war, the Seekers could still win.
"Okay people, if we're going to do this right...Finrod, you know whatever happened to the charter we have from the crown? Validar maybe?" He looked at Omni: "Our best bet it to unify our charters, take out what no longer makes sense or is now null and void, and then choose leaders if need be."
He will make his way to Sharadin, and speak: "I'd like to offer these two spells." He points out Drawmij's Iron Sack, and Otiluke's Siege Sphere from his scroll. He then attempts to learn the following:
(Two tries each if possible, then give up for the moment)
1st: Dancing Lights, Enlarge, Picture
2nd: Alter Self, Fog Cloud, Magic Mouth
3rd: Fly, Haste, Inv 10' Radius, Prot/N Missiles, Prot/Evil 10', Spectral Force, Water Breathing, Clairvoyance
Equipment: (add/delete as necessary, new stuff from the keep) 2 daggers, quarterstaff/walking stick, robes, 3 changes/clothing, 3 waterskins, backpack, 1-sack, grimoire, 50' rope, and of course the magic stuff
SUBJ: Omni (R) FROM: Omni Tuens 01/02/92 S#: 423316
Omni stands silently over the table where the Company's treasure sits. He slowly reaches down and picks up one of the rings which has been declared 'magical', holding it up for inspection. He nods to himself, and slides it onto his hand. His signet ring still decorates his other hand.
"Schar, I'd like you to take charge of the healing potions for me. I'm sure we'll have much use for those in the future."
Omni then issues a statement to his Company in general.
"If you wish to have something out of our remaining treasure, please take it now. Otherwise, all the items will be made available to the Seekers; if they have no use for something, it will be donated to Sharadin's new Mage Guild."
Omni sadly accepts Argent's news that she is leaving. It seems that the members of his company keep getting fewer and fewer....
"I am in favor of making the combined groups a more permanent arrangement. It appears we shall be working together for the forseeable future, and it difficult for a group to function under pressure situations without a clear chain of command. Also, my company has been greatly depleted of late. I fear that as a single group, we would not have the strength to accomplish our quest..."
"Our charter was just redone, Claudius. It is relatively up to date, and it's purpose matches our original: to recover the Sword of Doom. I would ask that we share this goal in any new charters, as I am not willing to give up that goal."
SUBJ: Armon (R) FROM: Omni Tuens 01/02/92 S#: 423326
Armon smiles amiably to the beautiful twins, and makes an effort to spend more time with them. When Fiben gets... slammed? That night, he makes a note to perform a song... with them present.
When the presence of the young ladies is unavailable, he prowls the keep restlessly, always looking for someone to talk with, and flipping a dagger in one hand.
"Hey Shea! When is it we'll be back in Gateway?" The question is asked for the umpteenth time.
Late in the afternoon, those passing near the courtyard will note an extremely strange sight. A bearded knight in plate mail, at least seven feet tall, wields a bastard sword in a strangely silent duel with a shaggy, red-haired gnoll holding a battle-axe. The pair appears evenly matched.
SUBJ: Stephanie (R) FROM: Saphfire 01/02/92 S#: 426107
When not cuddling with her husband, Steph can be found practicing with her sword! She is a tad on the rough side, but does not intentionally harm any of her opponents.
When the subject of the Seekers Charter comes up, Steph adds...
"I was from back then, Claudius. I know a little about it."
(Wow! Only myself and Finrod are left from the originals! Have lost a lot of good people along the way. :( )
"It was my understanding that the Seekers operated freely, but with some restrictions. We were to turn over any information gained concerning the Hextorites and anything of importance to Logan. In return, they supplied us with a mansion and money to improve our supplies. However, we are required to perform one mission for the Kingdom of their choosing. I guess this sword quest would fit the bill. Other then that there's not much else in the character as far as I know."
When Kit arrives, Steph greets the scout and prepares for the journey to come.
SUBJ: Schar (R) FROM: Schar 01/02/92 S#: 426177
"Thank you, Omni. I'll see to the potions right away."
If no one objects, Schar will also take one of the protection rings. (Priests of Azrella are not permitted to wear armor so you can understand why I'd like to have one!)
Gathering up the potions, Schar heads to the storage area in search of a shoulder bag in which to carry the potions. She'll also look for something to pad the bag and keep the potions from crashing into each other.
I'll also check out the kitchen for replacement herbs for my healer's bag.
Schar is friendly to members of both groups. She is a healer extraordinaire and is greatly concerned with the welfare of others. :D
SUBJ: Stephanie (again) (R) FROM: Schar 01/02/92 S#: 426194

Steph will also add that she would not mind stepping down as one of the leaders.
"I only did it because no one else seemed to be willing at the time. Why not stay with Claudius and Omni as the united groups leaders? As long as we continue the policy of gather the opinions of the other members I see no problem with unification."
Of course Steph will still probably continue her bad habit of doing what she wants anyway! ;D

When told, he shrugs, gets his stuff, and follows her out without so much as a goodbye to the others.
(Crandor'd follow at this point.)
----------------
Claudius glances at Omni. "We agreed to go after your sword." he responds with a sudden coolness. "Do you have a copy of your charter with you? If we're going to ally, then we need to hammer such details out. I will NOT 'just accept yours'."
As an act of faith, he makes the shield +1 available to the Company. He keeps the alchemy jug as communal property for now..fresh water could be important where they are going.

Terry to Fiben: "Hey, you made a mistake. We can still be friends."
Sherry to Fiben: "You are proceeding from a false assumption that I consider you to be unworthy of Terry's affections. Neither one of us has EVER reacted to a man like Terry did to you. There have been more attractive men and elves, but I've never seen a reaction like that. Shure, we flirt a lot but not much more then that. I knew that you were given the Potion of Love and tried a Detect Magic out on sis. Finding Magic I then Dispelled it. She's my sister and I love her very dearly. Surely you can understand my reasoning? Consider yourself lucky that we didn't tell father. He'd probably turn you into a frog!"

She stands wearing Leather Lace-Up Front Britches & Leather Slip over Jerkin, cinched with a belt holding a large Bush Knife...
She wears over this Leather Armor, monogrammed with her name & the name of a Group which appears cryptic, if not ominous - Company of Thieves ( ;> )...
She has Lace-Up Knee High Moccasins w/ a boot sheathed Dagger & a narrow Leather headband...
Her clothes are blotched green & brown in an unusual color scheme...
She has a Backpack on, with a Horned Helm perched on top & an Woolen Hooded Cloak rolled up & attached to the back...
Her personal appearance is downright Barbarous...
Her Brown hair is done straight up in a Horsetail Topknot & held with a Copper Band... Copper & Tooth Earrings dangle from her ears...
She has Copper studded Bracers, each holding flat Willow Leafed Shaped Throwing Knives, & Copper Armbands...
She wears her Longsword in an over-the -shoulder Sheath next to her Quiver, & holds a Composite Short Bow in her hands...
Her Large Brown Eyes show dramatically despite half her face being hidden by Black & Forest Green WarPaint... which still cannot hide a scar which runs from her hairline down to her mouth on the left side, or the fact that she is attractive in spite of all this...

"Well, Omni, since no one else wants them, I guess I'll request the magical daggers." I say to Omni, pulling the daggers out of the sheath, and testing their balance, and metal quality.
"I'd suggest giving Schar the cloak instead of the ring, as it's a more powerful protection item." I say to Omni. "Of course, if they'd both work together, that'd be great."
When the discussion gets around to leadership, and the joining of the two parties, I add the following...
"If we are going to join as a group, I believe we should have one leader, and one leader alone." I say to everyone.
"Rather than having deadlocks between the two leaders, it would be easier to have just one."
"Unfortunately, both groups don't know each other very well, so might I suggest this instead of having a vote."
"Out of the current leaders of both groups, we appoint the person with the most leadership experience to run things. And if Omni is the person, then we choose one of you Seekers to be Vice-Leader. And if one of you is the person, Omni is chosen to be Vice-Leader."
"We can leave it this way during the voyage, and take a final vote before we reach the graveyard. This gives us time to get to know each other, and elect a leader we all feel is best for the combined group."
When Argent leaves:
I quickly climb up to one of the towers that overlooks Argent and Crandor as they walk off together.
I then whistle loudly, and when they look in my direction, I draw my rapier, and give them a swashbuckler salute with it.
"Goodbye Argent...Goodbye Grumpy..." I say softly. "Goodbye, my friends."
I then watch them until they're out of sight.
"Tymora, give them your blessings, I have the feeling they're going to need every one you can spare." I pray to Tymora, before heading down to the others.

The Steel-eyed Elven Multi-class takes in Kit with a raised eyebrow... then he catches himself, and feigns nonchalance. He saunters up to the Ranger and offers his hand. "Pleased to meet 'ya, Kit. Hope we can have some fun choppin' Hextorites together." He quickly shakes her hand, and hopefully no one notices the quick and discreet wink. Having learned the hard way not to give his beloved wife any reason to feel the least bit threatened by new females, he studiously avoids seeming interested. "We really MUST do drinks together sometime." he says, as if that were really the furthest thing from his mind. He is extra attentive to Steph for several hours afterward. Could it be that the cold-hearted mercenary feels guilty about his own reactions? Nawww....
Concerning Leaders: Sure, I'd back Claudius as primary leader, with omni as vice-chair. Fine Idea!

Welcome back!
to Terry: "It was of course more than your beauty that attracted me to you, and your sister. You both seem so happy about life. And so kind of heart. Well, you have proven to me that you truly are kind of heart. Thank you."
"Now that we are friends, I think you will find that friendship is something I value highly and will not abuse. I consider myself honored. You have taught me a valuable life lesson"
to Sherry: "I have always wondered why you two haven't been swept off your feet by a suitor by now. I guess now I know. Sorry for the comments, they weren't fair. I seem to be very emotional lately and I don't know why. Maybe its my racial characteristics slipping through. More probably its because I'm uncomfortable around crowds like this. And I lost a best friend just before we came here. In fact, we buried him the same day we arrived here. Please forgive me, I'm not myself."
Fiben hears of the arrival of a new scout and goes to "Check her out".
(Her abilities and such.)
Upon seeing her from across the room, he notes that she appears, ohhh, shall I say, Unconventional. And interesting. He also notes that she is attractive, in a savage sort of way.
(What race are you, Kit? Did I miss that?)
But when Fiben hears her speak to the others, her speech causes him to freeze in his tracks as an incredible feeling of terrorizing deja vu sweeps over him.
She reminds him of another scout he buried recently. One he is not yet ready to be remembering.
After the events with the twins, and now this, Fiben feels emotionally drained and helpless. Without saying anything to Kit or anyone else, Fiben slowly walks back to his room to be alone for a while, fingering his tooth -n- bone necklaces as he goes. He will probably stay in his room until time for the Party to depart. (Gotta redo my memorized spell list anyways.)

"Have I been this bad a leader, Perrel? Were my decisions this wrong? You've been with me from the start... but you're it, my friend. You can count the current members of the Company on one hand!"
Omni holds out something he had been holding in his hand to the swashbuckler.
"Please...give this to Claudius for me. It is our charter...the newest one. He will need it for the revisions, and they will want it when they pick a new leader. Speak for the Company on this matter... it is within your right to do so. Right now... I need time to think."

"They make terrific messengers in addition to being able to provide food, if it's absolutely necessary.. "
He'll also try to corner a few people into "kissing a rose petal" in case they find themselves in trouble. Specifically, he'll try to work in Sacred Guardian spells on Tania, Fiben, Steph, and Finrod.. This will allow the party to use a few of these people as scouts, with quick communication should they get in trouble..

I startle somewhat when I see Omni up next to me. I start faking a slight heart attack, when I see the serious look on his face, and I quickly somber up.
When he starts to speak, I know something's wrong, but his words cut into my heart like a knife.
"Omni, no. Don't do this to yourself. You have been a fine leader! I don't want you to think otherwise."
"So, some people left, so what? That wasn't because of you. Our quest was just a little too rough for them, that's all."
"You want to know why we're still here, and they're not. Because we don't give up, that's why. If you were truely a bad leader, we wouldn't have made it this far. We probably would've run back up those masoleum steps and went home."
"Don't doubt yourself. I know how you feel though, they were my friends too." I say putting a hand on his shoulder firmly.
When I hear Finrod reply to my idea about the leaders, with his smug suggestion of Claudius, with Omni working under him, something snaps.
"Listen here, Omni has gotten us through this quest, and he's done it without two other leaders to back him up!" I say angrily, something most people are unaccustomed to seeing me be. "It took three of you to replace one man, what does that say about any of your leadership abilities!"
"At least Omni is willing to listen to those he leads, and not act like a pompous little tyrant, who seem to believe in meeting behind closed doors every time something concerning the party comes up!!"
"You can believe your precious Claudius is a great leader, but those of the Company KNOW that Omni's far better, and far more experienced!!" I say slamming my fist on the table, not so much for effect, as to try and blow off some of the steam I'm feeling.

After listening to him, I come up with the only solution I can think of. I leap on top of him and merciless start to tickle him! ;D
When Perrel suggests taking the Cloak +2, I decline.
"My needs are small. Let someone whom needs it use it. As you well know, love, I rarely get into actual combat! Killings against my beliefs, as you may recall. In addition that particular cloak is not in the color I need. Azrella requires that mine be sky blue in color. Her color."
Later, I find Perrel and Omni up in the tower.
"Do not say such things, Omni! You have done a good job! Do not let foolish words hurt you! Those who know you, appreciate you!"
At the meeting I do my best to calm Perrel down. Right after the slams the table, I seize the moment to speak.
"My friends this pointless bickering has gone on long enough. We are all agreed that we need to locate the Sword of Doom. Both of our former groups have said thoughtless words that have upset the others. We must all realize that we are now united in a single purpose. There is no longer a Company. The Seekers are no more. As I see it two leaders works for me. Let Omni be one. He has the warriors' skill. Let Claudius be the other. He has the understanding of magic. Is this satisfactory to all?"
"As for a new name, how about 'Seekers of the Sword'? A combination of our former groups and an indication of our purpose?"
To show her own spirit of cooperation, Schar makes an effort to become friends with the newer priests.
"My goddess is the patron of healing and life. As such, my powers over undead and healing are much stronger. I usually memorize many curative spells, so you may all feel free to memorize other types of magic. I am not permitted to wear armor, nor may I kill, so I see little combat."

When Perrel makes his outburst, Finrod makes a quiet TSK, TSK noise. He cannot help thinking that this is just the sort of thing that makes adventurers so much less cohesive than Mercenary Bands. Far better to get 100% behind a leader, helping him with advice and support, rather than giving only blind loyalty and obedience.
His opinion is reassessed upward, however, when the Cleric of Azrella makes her well-reasoned plea for cooperation and consolidation. He nods his head in agreement when she finishes. "Well said. Hmmmm... Seekers of the Sword... sounds good, nice ring. 'The SS' for short. I like it!"

SUBJ: Dani... FROM: GM Elezar 01/07/92 S#: 440289
Never one to ignore Tania's screams, Dani rushes to see what's got her jumping now.. Of course, Kitten'll be present (like they're ever apart.. :D ) and when th'Gnoll is seen.. Dani'll launch into a Hold Person spell..
As for the choice of a Leader.. Dani's not terribly interested in the subject.. His leader isn't within the party.. And he doesn't care too much for mortal leaders..
Dani'll also seem to be more and more curious about the proceedings of the mages of the party. Though he's not a mage, he's quite interested in the subject.. Interested enough even to ask Claudius and Padraig if they've ever considered taking on an apprentice.. :)
(Yes, Dani's looking into becoming Dual Classed.. :) )
SUBJ: Fiben again FROM: FatalCharm 01/07/92 S#: 502179
Before Fiben retired to his room of course...
Fiben, although he doesn't know what a Sacred Guardian spell is, cooperates with Dani and thanks him for the protection. He reflects back on the generosity the Seekers have shown, beginning with Gold pieces he received when he joined, then his precious Potion of Invisibility, then the Stoneskin he received from Pad (Which is still at full strength, right Mad?), and now Dani's gift. Truly an honorable group he has joined here.
Fiben's new spell list:
1st level: Burning Hands, Color Spray
2nd level: Melf's Acid Arrow
Oh and another reason Fiben is staying in his room now, and staying out of the leadership meetings, is because he isn't very proud of some of the things being said by his fellow seekers. Even less proud of the remarks that have come from one of his own race. He wonders if Finrod might also have some human blood in him, as he seems so serious and single minded all the time.
SUBJ: Tania FROM: Enchantres 01/07/92 S#: 441162
'How sweet!' is my response to Dani. ;D
'I didn't know ye cared!' ;D
Tania gives him a quick on the cheek. 'How thoughtful of you!'
Tania doesn't say much at the latest meeting. When the Priestess begins to speak I find that her words make a lot of sense. 'I'll go along with ye!'
SUBJ: Armon (R)
Armon gleefully plays, toying with his illusion spells in an effort to strengthen his skills. THEN the women start showing up...screaming and spoiling his fun. He sighs and let's the illusions drop.
The gnoll disappears entirely, and the large human shimmers and assumes the familiar form of the red-cloaked bard.
"Can't a guy have any fun around here? I was just trying to get in some practice!"
SUBJ: Perrel... FROM: GM Kill 01/08/92 S#: 508205
I quickly let out a little cry of surprise when Schar jumps me and starts tickling me, then I start tickling back as good as I'm getting.
Slowly the tickling becomes a little more groping, and finally, well...;x
"Sorry." I say when Schar says she can't take the cloak because of the color. "Didn't know that, I just thought it would be better for you since you can't wear armor."
"I'd wear it, but it'd just interfere with my acrobatics." I say to Omni.
When Schar seizes her moment, and jumps in at the end of my angry statements, I listen to her, and try calming down while I do.
By the time she finishes, I feel a lot more in control again, and I think about what she's just said.
