The Frontier #126

The Seekers have returned to where they believe to have encountered the Zombie Master. The small cave system is quickly checked and found to be devoid of danger.

Gathering near the shaft, Claudius prepares to Dispel the Wall of Stone covering it. He casts his magic and nothing happens.

Perrel steps up and casts his own Dispel Magic. Again, nothing happens.

Clean out of Dispels, Pad steps up and casts a DM from Melvin. The Staff complies and the Wall of Stone vanishes.

One of Pad's many Continual Light rocks is tossed down the shaft once more. As the rock falls, strange shadowy are seen climbing up the shaft!

Already the first of these creatures is emerging from the pit! Then another, and another...

You can't quite be sure how many of these shadow creatures that there are. They move forward menacingly...

SUBJ: GM Notes: (R) FROM: GM Mad 01/25/92 S#: 474832

Sherry and Terry provided the remaining spell levels needed to work the platform on the promise that you would "Bring us back something cute!".

It turns out that only 14 levels were needed, because Mastiff stayed behind. (Perhaps only 13 if the newbie remains a no-show.)

Claudius, Finrod, Perrel and Pad would currently be the closest to the shaft. Also, you are currently in a tight tunnel. Area effect spells are virtually impossible to get off without affecting someone else in the Seekers. Range attacks would also be chance, since you could very well hit a friend!

Carry on! ;)

SUBJ: Kit 1 (R) FROM: ShadowFoxx 01/25/92 S#: 485565

Kit had been looking from Finrod to Fiben, waiting to see which one would choose her for their group, when the Mages began working on the Wall of Stone...

As it dissipated (? ... what does a dispelled effect do?... vanish?), she had yet to receive instructions...

Seeing the Shadow Creatures advance, she shoulders her Bow & draws her Sword...

IF it looks as if the Mages are going to handle this, she'll dive for the nearest nook or cranny to keep out of the way of any flying Lightning Bolts, Fireballs, etc... :>

IF Steph leads the Charge & it's going to be a hand-to-hand knock down drag out... & IF there's room... :> ... she'll try & squeeze by along the wall & hustle Pad & Claudius back out of Harm's Way... before diving back in to give & get her share of Licks... :>

(I'm gonna assume she doesn't have the Stoneskin... Mad didn't rule... I just work on the principle that since we really don't know When any event occurs as we all Post at different times during the week concerning an indeterminate period of time - unless it's like This week where time is compressed in a Battle - that Pad had plenty of time to give her one sometime before they left... no big deal if it's gonna BE a Big Deal...)

SUBJ: Dani... FROM: GM Elezar 01/25/92 S#: 492503

.. spots the shadow-creatures coming up from the shaft and begins preparations to call on the power of Mystra.. He waits, however, until the others make their decision on how these creatures are to be handled.. If it looks like a melee, he'll wait 'til the battle is joined before attempting a Turn (get dem good back attacks) otherwise, he'll wait to see how effective the mages are..

Having made his preparations, he'll keep an eye on Tanya, t'make sure she doesn't panic and start her prayers too early.. :)

SUBJ: Stephanie FROM: Saphfire 01/25/92 S#: 468960

"Demons!!"

Lightning is in my hands in a flash and I move towards the shadows as they climb out of the pit.

I pause a moment to let the spellcasters do their thing before engaging the creatures hand to hand!

"Back down your hole demons!!"

SUBJ: Schar FROM: Schar 01/25/92 S#: 512036

"I am not being foolhardy, Perrel. You must understand, undead fly against everything that I believe. They are the personal enemy of Azrella! Would you not act strongly if you encountered in someone who worshipped unluck? Or no luck at all?"

"Do not worry, Azrella grants me greater then normal powers against undead. I shall be alright."

When the shadows appear, I immediately take my Holy Symbol into hand. The symbol of Azrella is the symbol of infinity that wear on a chain about my neck. Holding it close, I say the pray of turning.

"Back, foul creature! Back to the darkness that spawned you! Azrella commands!!"

If still more shadows appear, I'll cast Disruption on my mace and attack the undead.

SUBJ: GM Notes: FROM: GM Mad 01/26/92 S#: 465899

To tell the awful truth, I simply forgot about Kit's Stoneskin. I considered it done before the Seekers left. :)

SUBJ: Omni FROM: Omni Tuens 01/26/92 S#: 814465

Omni waits tensely as the wall is finally dispelled. He's not at all surprised to see something that isn't alive coming out of the hole. Quickly, the warrior throws back his head and shouts:

"SWORDS TO THE FRONT! Claudius, Pad, fall back... Schar, Perrel- see what you can do about repelling them!"

Omni then works to shoulder his way forward, knowing the mages have enough sense to agree and let him through before the shadows reach them.

SUBJ: Fiben Bolger FROM: FatalCharm 01/26/92 S#: 467065

Fiben was about to move to the front after Finrod when Claudius suddenly yells out some orders and gives Fiben a... Responsibility? (ACK!)

As a couple of the party members turn their eyes towards Fiben, he blushes (naturally) and is thankful that most seem to have their attention on the wall that the mages are attempting to dispel.

Thinking quickly, Fiben wonders why They don't want scouts up front, then realizes if they have been here before they probably don't need anyone to tell them what is up ahead. Then as the wall drops, Fiben's mind is made up, protecting the rear for now is just fine with him. (:D)

Fiben starts to yell to Dani but stops when he sees Dani is already concerning himself with the advancing shadows and realizes the Cleric is needed up there. Then, he suddenly thinks of what he has seen Tanya do in combat before, and well, he thinks she is a nice girl and doesn't want her to get hurt. So he yells for Tanya to come with him and gets an idea. "Tanya, if any more of these un-dead things try to sneak up behind us, we'll need you to turn them for us. Will you help me?"

Then, as the shadows beginning coming out of the shaft, Fiben quickly moves to Kit, winks, and says "As if we need help. Hmph. Take the opposite wall from me, and hide with your bow!"

So, the game plan: Fiben and Kit to Hide in the shadows against the wall on opposite sides of the cavern, with their bows readied, watching for any rear attacks. Tanya in the middle to keep the attention away from Kit and Fiben, and to turn the Undead. Fiben doesn't dare to take anyone else from the front, doesn't feel he needs more help than that, and wouldn't ask the more experienced members anyways.

He'll TRY to watch the rear, but his attention is being greatly distracted by the confrontation forming in the front.

Also, Fiben casts Protection from Evil on himself as soon as the others start fighting, and if forced to lay down his bow and draw his sword, he'll cast Blur on himself.

SUBJ: Kit 2 FROM: ShadowFoxx 01/26/92 S#: 486412

Oka-a-y...

When Fiben selects her Out of the Defense (wisely, probably, since she Was one of the furthest from the shaft)... she immediately halts, again reverses her weapons, & falls quickly back to her ordered position... with Almost nary a grumble... :>

"By all th' gods 'n their Mommas, Han'some-but-Scrawny, yer best be speakin' up sooner 'n be makin' up yer mind here a bit quicker'n This Nex' time...

"Ah, but What's a Poor Lass to Do, I says... Men thinks they runs th' World they do... Go here... Go there..."...

SUBJ: FINROD FROM: SGT STONEY 01/27/92 S#: 480812

First off, the point squad:

Finrod, Perrel, Stephanie, Blod.

Fin in front, Perrel 10' behind Fin, Steph and Blod 25' behind Perrel, The whole group a distance ahead of the main party to be determined by Claudius and Omni.

When nasties skitter toward top of shaft, cast WEB down the well, anchoring on the sides, and along the lip. Follow up with BURNING HANDS.

Then after Clerics and other mages do their stuff, if any remain alive, engage with sword and dagger.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Sorry, no flowery stuff tonight... reinjured hand and hurts like a B**CH!!

SUBJ: Padraig FROM: GM Shifty 01/27/92 S#: 848918

(Webbing shadows, Fin? Not the most effective thing possible.)

Pad falls back letting the fighters to the fore. Unless there are quite a few of these, they aren't a real serious problem. Pad will drop a Prot Evil 10' Rad and wait to see how the fight goes. If anyone gets in a little deep, Pad will throw a Hold Undead their way. If things really get messed up, Pad will yell out, "Fall back!" and drop a Wall of Fire to catch as many shadows as possible. Since he'll only do this in a very untenable situation, he'll even be willing to drop it if a few of the tougher party members will be caught in it, the ones he figures should be able to take it.

SUBJ: Blod... (R) FROM: Blod 01/28/92 S#: 512119

...will move to the ordered position, sword ready to hack these wicked things apart!

SUBJ: FINROD (R) FROM: SGT STONEY 01/28/92 S#: 510803

"Doubt they're Shadows, per se, Pad. Shadowy was an adjective, I believe."

After the assignments are given, but before the dispels go off, Fin takes a moment to speak with Fiben. "Don't be upset, Fiber. Rearguard is as important as vanguard. And just as essential to have scouts there. Claudius and Omni chose wisely, putting you in charge back there...you can do it!. You started out well: before you got the rear position, then chose Kit for it, I was about to nab you both for the front. Those two," ::nods at the leaders:: "know what they're about."

With a wink and nod, Fin gathers his point team and moves out to the covered well.

--Finrod Fasthand

--Mercenary Corporal

SUBJ: Mercy FROM: Mastiff1 01/28/92 S#: 512845

Seeing what is coming out of the shaft, Mercy pulls his owl shaped holy symbol out and attempts to turn the undead also. After the attempt he will rush to the front, drawing Common Sense (Morningstar), and proceed to enlighten the shadowy creatures.

SUBJ: Perrel... FROM: GM Kill 01/29/92 S#: 820271

Back with Schar:

"I understand why, it's just that I've never seen you so..so..violent before." I say to Schar. "It takes a little getting used to."

As we enter the tunnels, I feel a sense of foreboding, like something wicked this way comes. Sure enough, shadows begin pouring up at the party, and I wonder just what other nasties are lurking down there.

I quickly grab my Holy Symbol, hold it out, and call upon Tymora to kindly repulse these things, if she doesn't mind.

Depending on how the turnings go, if there are any left, I attack with my magical rapier, sticking close to Schar as I do, determined to give her whatever help I can if she winds up needing it.

SUBJ: Claudius FROM: GM Phoenix 01/29/92 S#: 468392

Claudius, to be quite honest, stays the hell out of it. He backs off when Omni begins shoving past him, and watches. He snaps tactical orders to keep every- one reasonably cohesive, but doesn't use his spells, figuring this is an attempt to weaken the mages. He will assume the role of coordinator for now, and hope he's right.

If things go bad, he'll start in with the flaming spheres, sending them right through the tougher PCs if needed to get to the baddies.. then rolling it around like a marble.

SUBJ: Tania FROM: Enchantres 01/29/92 S#: 798353

Gulp! Shadowy thingees an' demons from the bottomless pit from heck! ;D

Lil' Tania is more the HAPPY to be in the rear group! Still, she does look back every few moments just in case.

'Oh, Lady Mystra, what have I gotten myself into now?'

If any of the icky undead do appear, then I'll try to turn them! 'Shoo! Go away!'

The Frontier #127

The Seekers gather near the shafting leading down to the Zombie Master's lair. The Wall of Stone covering it is dispelled and it vanishes.

As it does, shadows begin to climb out!

Schar and Perrel act first and both say a prayer to their Patrons to turn the creatures. Schar holds her Holy Symbol forth and bright blue light leaps forth and disintegrates eight of the advancing shadows!

Perrel follow her up and repels eight shadows of his own. Those eight climb back down the shaft, slowing the progress of those under them.

Stephanie arrives at the edge of the pit, but no shadows are in sword range yet.

Mercy produces his own Holy Symbol and calls upon Mortidus to turn the undead. Several more shadows reverse their climb.

With all the shadows in the pit, Finrod casts a Web down it. This slows the shadows down to a crawl, but does not prevent their passage.

By now, both Omni and Blod are ready for battle, but no enemy is in reach.

Fin follows up with Burning Hands and ignites the Web. The shadows are lost from sight as flames fill the shaft.

Meanwhile, those in the back of the group are startled to see a young woman approach them. Tania, suffering a combination of surprise and fearing more undead, tries to turn her, but to no effect!

"That has no effect on me, girl! How nice to met the Seekers again! This time I shall kill you all!"

That said the girl goes into spell casting!

"Oh, and if you do survive, tell Finrod that Wendy is back to slay him!"

Fiben and Kit each draw aim on the woman, but are too slow. Suddenly their end of the shaft is filled with fire!!

The Fireball explodes through the tunnel! Its effects are centered on Tania and she goes down without a sound. Fiben and Kit also take the full force of the explosion.

Behind them, Dani, Padraig and Claudius also feel the heat. The flames do not reach the shaft, so those there are spared its touch.

When everyone has re-gathered their wits, you find the girl calling herself Wendy nowhere in sight.

Tania is laying on the floor, badly burned, her clothing mostly destroyed.

Fiben's armor is burning and in very bad shape.

Dani's flail melted under the heat!

Kit finds her quiver is on fire!

Both Claudius and Pad were on the other edge of the explosion and took minimal damage.

Now what? And was that really Wendy??

SUBJ: Perrel! FROM: Count Kill 01/30/92 S#: 472818

I stand there, my rapier drawn, awaiting the shadows, when I hear a loud crackling sound, like a large fire of some type, and feel a burst of heated air hit my back.

Sparing a look over my shoulder, I see the damaged rear end of the party, and I wonder just what's going on back there.

I look back at the approaching shadows, and try to decide what I should do...stay and fight, or go see if anyone needs help.

I decide that the others can handle the shadows without me, and I quickly head towards the back of the group to try and help the others, knowing Schar's mission to destroy undead, I decide to try and do what healing I can, and leave her the undead.

I use my Acrobatic skill to squeeze past the others, and get back there.

Seeing how badly Tania is hurt, I quickly move to her and cast both my CLW's on her.

"What the heck happened back here?!" I ask one of those hit by the fireball.

SUBJ: FINROD (R) FROM: SGT STONEY 01/31/92 S#: 475354

The steel-eyed mercenary smiles grimly as the flames leap from his fingertips igniting the web and it's imbedded shadows. That should add a little urgency to the flight of the turned ones! ;)

Fin is almost distracted when he hears the familiar sound of a fireball going off behind him, but he just assumes that the party has been attacked from the rear and Paddy or Claudius is mopping up the enemy back there. Alas, the Elven multiclass is convinced that the rear group can hold the rear, while the front-rankers and himself must worry about the front. He resists the impulse to look over his shoulder, instead taking a firm stance, ready to engage the remaining shadows with dagger and sword as they emerge from the pit.

SUBJ: The unsecured rearguard FROM: GM Falcon 01/31/92 S#: 483271

"WHAT THE BLOODY HELL!?", Claudius roared as a burst of hot air, and not a little flame smacked into him.

He whirled, and looked for an enemy. Not finding one, he stood tensely, read to use magic missiles if a target presents itself. "CLERIC!", he bawls, but Perrel is on the way..

Mail From: Mastiff1 Date: Saturday 1-Feb-92 02:39 EST

Here is my spell list:

CLW(*3) Bless Protection from Evil

2nd level Hold Person Mind Read

SUBJ: Omni (R) FROM: Omni Tuens 02/01/92 S#: 491134

Omni waits eagerly for a shadow to come within reach, but the clerics are just too darn efficient. Instead of a battle fury, the warrior receives a surprise in the form of a whoosh and screams of alarm from behind him. Unlike Fin, he can't resist the urge to turn and look, afraid someone might be badly hurt.

He sees the fallen Seekers, but Perrel is moving quickly to aid them. He automatically shouts back, "Find whoever did that, before they wipe us out from behind!" His words are unnecessary, and painfully punctuate his own helplessness.

Omni starts to move back towards the explosion, but discretion quickly takes over, and he realizes that he must remain where he is with Steph and Fin. He turns to tell them just this, but sees they aren't moving either, and realizes the professionals don't need lecturing.

This decided, the fighter grimly turns his eyes back to the shadows, even while he fears for the hurt in his heart.

SUBJ: Fiben Bolger (R) FROM: FatalCharm 02/01/92 S#: 491296

Fiben is almost relieved when Wendy appears, now he'll get some action. He is just about to release his arrow and sink it into her heart when she manages to get the words out "Nice to meet the Seekers again". This causes Fiben to pause just long enough to see if possibly she is a friend and not a foe. Of course, it was also just long enough for her to get her spell off.

As Fiben feels the heat of his flaming armor he instinctively starts rolling in the dirt to smother the flames. He then starts pouring water on himself from his wineskin to cool the armor. He forces himself to stop pouring the water, before more than half is gone, when he sees the one he wanted to protect lying on the ground, burnt and dieing.

Fiben literally screams, "WHAT HAVE I DONE?!" and moves to Tania ASAP, whether he runs or has to crawl to get there. As Perrel is healing her, Fiben holds her head up, puts his wineskin to her lips and pours small amounts of the water down her throat, careful not to let her choke. Fiben's brain is screaming within, "Way to protect her, idiot, by having her attract attention." His eyes turn pleadingly up to Perrel, then down the shaft towards Claudius, almost begging someone to give him directions.

With himself hurt, and his armor damaged, Fiben decides its time to cast the Pro. From Evil on himself, and if Tania is healed to where she is alert, he resumes his position against the wall with his bow. He yells to Kit, "If you can get to my backpack, I have lots of extra arrows in there!"

If by some chance Tania is still unconscious though, Fiben will lay his new cloak of protection over her, and move her against the sidewall.

SUBJ: Mercy FROM: Mastiff1 02/01/92 S#: 491528

Mercy can't suppress a grin as the faith in each of the clerics gods is shown in turning the shadows.

His happiness is short lived as the familiar sound of a fireball is heard. He turns wondering who would be that stupid to detonate a fireball in close quarters. Then to his horror he realizes they have been attacked from the rear, and people are hurt. Mercy rushes to the rear, going to Tania first if she need his help after Perrel. If not he will go to the others who are hurt and use his CLWs on them.

He will scan the area looking any signs of who may have attacked them.

SUBJ: Tania (R) FROM: Enchantres 02/01/92 S#: 495566

Fully expecting to be attacked by evil undead critters, I try to turn the girl! Then she blows me up. 'OW!' is about all I'm able to say before falling over. ;D

SUBJ: Dani.. (R) FROM: GM Elezar 02/01/92 S#: 849530

Standing near Tania, Dani screams as fire washes over him. (Where was Kitten?)

Falling near Tania, he moves quickly to her before his body can recover from the shock.. but finds that someone has beaten him to her healing. Searching around, his concern switches from Tania to Kitten.. Where is she?!

SUBJ: Padraig FROM: GM Shifty 02/01/92 S#: 505198

Pad turns as the Fireball sweeps over the back of the party. He gazes about with his Detect Invisible spell trying to spot the caster. If he does, he'll immediately zip a Magic Missile into her, and a second if needed.

SUBJ: GM Notes: FROM: GM Mad 02/01/92 S#: 506404

You're right, I did forget about Kitten. She was also caught in the Fireball and is currently 6 of 16 on Hit Points.

SUBJ: Kit 1 (R) FROM: ShadowFoxx 02/02/92 S#: 513598

Kit duly notes "Wendy"'s greeting as she prepares to feather their visitor, when... Kentucky Fried Kit... Extra Crispy!!!...

Bouncing off the wall & diving forward, Kit frantically rolls & beats herself to put the fire out... shrugging off her quiver & slapping at the Feathery Flames...

Gingerly feeling her now most frizzy, crinkly topknot poking thru her Helm, she is Not Amused...

She's thinking to herself...

"Awright, Rat, me Lad, most favored tutor...

"I'm guessing it's Finals Time fer yer ol' Partner & ex-pupil is it?...

"Fine, says I...

"'N wi' them a-pickin' on me poor self so, when I've clearly larned me lesson about toe-t'-toein' wi' th' Relatives too...

"It's ashamed yer would be to see me so cooked up wi'out so mich as a single lick delivered too, I'll wager...

"Ar-r-r-gh, they're askin' fer it Now, Rat, me Lad, 'n I swear t' yer thet I'll be a-payin' 'em back proper fer this insult t' yer thoughtful Trainin'..."...

Aloud, she yells as she bounces to her feet, scampering back toward Fiben's pack, beating her blackened quiver into shape...

"FIN-RO-O-O-D-D!... another most dis-satisfied a'quaintance o' yer'n were jist here a-callin' fer yer!...

"The Lass sounded most un-happy wi' yer performance, I swan...

"'N jealous she is too, tho Why, I'm sure I cain't fathom...

"What I figger is thet she jist ain't the type t' dis-courage a Lad, friendly-like, wi' a soft touch on yer boot-toe... like some Lasses... 'n she does indeed appear t' wants t' see yer Real Bad"...

Reaching Fiben's backpack, Kit will nonchalantly dump it's contents unceremoniously on the floor, scooping up 20 arrows to be deposited in their new home...

With a wi-i-de grin to Fiben, she will proceed to break the heads from her, now useless, Silver Arrows & tuck them carefully into Her backpack, before asking gaily...

"'N so, Fiben, me toasty friend, is there anythin' I kin get yer, while I've yer rather messy backpack so handily arrayed?...

SUBJ: Kit 2 FROM: ShadowFoxx 02/02/92 S#: 513842

Kit is not callous about Tania & Dani's plight, she just realizes with the Cleric's on the way & much more qualified to render Meaningful Aid, there are things she can do that will become more important to the Party later... like re-arm... :>

Once she has a new supply of arrows, courtesy of Fiben (... ;> ), she darts back & scoops up her Bow, checking it over before re-nocking an arrow...

Then she'll, carefully, pat the Bag hanging at her side... surreptitiously making sure it's occupant is not Too Much the Worse for Wear from the last several minutes of Trying Times...

If her clandestine ministrations are met with an angry chitterling, she'll merely Coo softly to the sound source & keep stroking the bag 'til her hand is needed on the Bow...

She will stay at her Post, guarding the passageway, watching Fiben's reaction, & Tania & Dani being ministered to, thoughtfully... waiting for Her turn... knowing how thin her margin for error has shrunk...

SUBJ: GM Notes: FROM: GM Mad 02/02/92 S#: 816928

Perrel reaches Tania first and lays a CLW on her. The healing magic does it's work and the young mage/priest is no longer in danger of dying.

However, she is very weak and is barely able to move. She is somewhat coherent, but appears more confused and feverish.

(As per the Hovering on Death's Door rules, no further healing will help Tania now. One full day of normal rest is the ticket her.)

Those near the back scan the cave looking for the girl claiming to be Wendy. Pad does not note the presence of anyone or thing under cover of invisiblity.

Back tracking the cave also turns up nothing. The wench has fled as fast as she has appeared.

In the meantime, Dani tends to Kittens burns. Suddenly, the great cat begins to flex it's claws and hiss!

Turning, Dani sees the tail end of something appearing in the middle of the cave!

A black, man-shaped cloud comes into being in the cave. A vague torso and arms can be made out. Two glowing red points appear to serve as eyes. It glides towards Dani...

(Based on the posting, Fin, Omni and Steph are still near the shaft. The new arrival is between them and the rest of the group.)

(Also, and I did forget mention this in my original notes, when I throw a new monster at the group, new as in a monster that I have not yet used in this game, then I describe it instead of merely saying what it is. This was the first time either group ever encountered shadows, so their description as "shadowy beings" seemed to fit. Once things are known, then they shall be called by their names. Hope this clears up any confusion there may have been. :)

SUBJ: FINROD (R) FROM: SGT STONEY 02/03/92 S#: 819829

Wendy is long dead, true, but the creature we battle here is a master of bringing the dead back to haunt the living. Fin assumes that this version of our old-and-worthy foe is most likely some hitherto unheard of form of ghost or revenant, and says as much to Steph.

As the Elven multi-class stands talking to his lovely wife, yet another creature of darkness materializes... this time between them and the rest of the party! The steel-eyed mercenary is tempted to follow his beloved into combat, but realizes that someone must continue to watch the well, and Omni is most likely charging the nasty, as well.

Finrod whips off a quick ENLARGE on his lady-wife, then turns back to watch the well. This spell should give her a most intimidating, corridor-filling aspect, and when combined with the STRENGTH cast on her earlier, and her own not-inconsiderable skills, should make her a veritable Force of Destruction.

Finrod will rapidly flick his field of view from the combat in the corridor to the depths of the well. Only if it becomes obvious that he is needed will he wade in with sword and dagger swinging.

SUBJ: Stephanie (R) FROM: Saphfire 02/02/92 S#: 515791

"Not much of a foe, these shadow demons." Steph is very disappointed with how easily the holy people drove them off!

Then the Fireball goes off and then talk of Wendy!

"Wendy?! But she's dead!! Fin and Validar killed her!!"

Drawn by Kitten's growling, I see the newcomer appear! "At last, perhaps this cloud-thing is a worthy foe!"

Once more Lightning is in my hand as I rush to attack the cloud-thing!

SUBJ: Schar (R) FROM: Schar 02/02/92 S#: 517999

The healer feels a great feeling of satisfaction that her prayers resulted in the utter annihilation of the undead! The other priests are also looked favorably upon by their own patrons and more undead flee.

Grabbing my mace, I stand near the edge the pit waiting undead to issue forth.

When the fireball does go off, I do turn to look. I hear talk of wounded and I am torn between what to do. Should I go to heal or destroy more undead?? Seeing Perrel, Mercy and Dani on their way to help, I decide to remain behind. After all, Azrella is not the only goddess who heals!

I grasp my holy symbol once more when the nightmarish creature appears. Once more I say my prayer of turn towards this new foe.

SUBJ: Padraig FROM: GM Shifty 02/02/92 S#: 521667

Pad grumbles out loud, "Not only is our new scout's accent atrocious, but she adds to the problem by being long-winded. Someone ought to tell her that short and concise reports are more appropriate in battle situations."

When the new thingie shows up, Pad runs through his memories to try and identify it. If he recalls it as being an undead of a nasty sort (life-draining), he'll drop a Hold Undead on it. If not, he'll content himself with a Magic Missile or two.

SUBJ: Omni (R) FROM: Omni Tuens 02/03/92 S#: 516922

Omni is enraged at the sight of another enemy just appearing. He quickly raises his mighty blade, and charges forward to 'greet' it. Presumably, he'll do everything in his power to hurt/maim/kill/(insert your own violent term here!)/disembowel/ destroy/crush/maul the thing.

"Take it easy." I say to Tania soothingly. "That was a rough hit you took."

I look about at the others up front, and realize that they have their hands full.

"We've just started and are already down one member." I mutter to myself.

Since I only used one CLW on her, I use the other one on whoever else needs it.

When the creature appears, I move between it and Tania, hoping to be able to guard her against it if necessary.

I glance up front often, trying to see how Schar is doing, and worrying about her intensely.

SUBJ: Kit 3 FROM: ShadowFoxx 02/03/92 S#: 484188

Toward Pad...

::Smoo-o-o-o-ch::

;>

"Yer DO carry ON so"...

As the new Being begins to materialize, Kit isn't waiting...

Dashing to Tania, she begins dragging her up-tunnel or back toward the Transporter (whichever isn't being blocked off by the thing)... & hollers for Fiben & Dani to Fall Back with her...

They're in no shape to Dance with THIS...

Once she can put some daylight (& hopefully someone in good shape... :> ) between them & IT, she'll lay Tania down & start Feathering IT with Fiben's nice new arrows... aiming high, so if she Does miss, she won't be skewering anyone on Her side...

Discretion would appear the better part of Valor Here...

SUBJ: FINROD (R) FROM: SGT STONEY 02/04/92 S#: 466453

I've always been rather fond of 'dismember', myself, Omni.

SUBJ: Dani.. (R) FROM: GM Elezar 02/04/92 S#: 788085

Dani decides that falling back might be a good idea, and begins to do so while casting a Speak with Animals spell. He'll then talk with Kitten, asking her to keep her senses open for more unnatural things. If given the chance, he'll toss a Protection from Evil spell on a party member. (Geez my spell list is horrid fer undead)

Once he gets back, he'll stand guard over Tania and have Kitten on her other side. If anything threatens her, he'll order Kitten to attack and follow up with his own. (Hopefully the adrenaline'll hold him for a turn or two.. Otherwise he'll prolly be gone in his own lil world of pain.. :) )

SUBJ: Mercy (R) FROM: Mastiff1 02/04/92 S#: 466362

Mercy checks on the other injured party members,to see if he can do anything for them.

When the other shadowy type thing come to entertain us. Mercy doesn't even attempt to turn. He swing Common Sense at the shadow. Mercy will continue swinging, until he has beaten enough Common Sense into the creature, that it returns to the dead. "Let Mortidus Wisdom guide you way back to dead. Where you belong."

SUBJ: Claudius FROM: GM Falcon 02/04/92 S#: 839534

Claudius watches the tactical situation flip repeatedly, before he can even react! He takes the news of Wendy, Fiben's helpless look, Pad's detections and such in coolly...and then starts spitting out orders:

"Warriors, protect that hole and descend! We advance! Fiben, Perrel, Kit, keep guarding our rear in case Wendy comes back!"

Then the new kid in town enters, and the mage frowns: "MAGIC!" He rolls a flaming sphere at his new friend, hoping it's enough...
