After the Wall of Ice is changed into a thick cloud of steam there is a momentary lull in the action.
Overhead, Pad casts Fire Shield on himself.
Down below, the Seekers wait for the remaining zombies to arrive.
Kit and Omni poke the strange stalactites that fell from overhead. They find the creature to be hard shelled, almost like stone. As suspected it moves at a snails pace. Once grounded they appear to be no threat.
Finrod casts Enlarge on himself and grows to 8'5"!
Mercy casts Mind Read and searches for the enemy mages. Schar casts Disruption on her mace, which them glows a bright blue.
Suddenly, a trio of Magic Missiles streak towards Pad! They came from an area almost opposite from the last barrage.
Melvin drinks in the Magic Missiles. Pad then tosses a Solid Fog spell off in the direction of the missile slinger.
Down below, the remaining zombies burst through the Wall of Fire! As before, their charred husks step forth then collapse to the ground.
Of the entire attack force, only one hill giant zombie survives penetrating the shield.
The giant zombie appears close to Finrod. Fin attacks with his sword and misses!
Perrel steps in and stabs the giant with his rapier doing some damage.
Stephanie strikes twice with Lightning and giant zombie chunks go flying! Kit finishes the zombie off with her sword.
Mercy locks onto a mind somewhere out in the darkness. Initial probing reveals the mind belongs to a human, probably a spell caster. His mind is highly ordered.
Elsewhere, Pad reaches the cube of Solid Fog. He spots a man inside the fog. The man is FLYING and trying to escape the cube. The thickness of the fog is slowing him down considerably.
The steam starts to lift and the rest of the group can see themselves clearly once more.
Unexpectedly, the Wall of Fire is gone! At the exact same moment Finrod returns to his normal height.
Before getting a chance to figure out what is going on, the area around the Seekers is slammed with pummeled with huge hailstones!
Fortunately, Pad's Stoneskins protect Claudius, Fiben, Finrod and Kit from any harm. Things could have been nasty without that protection!
The others are not so lucky and take damage. All are still in relatively good shape.

You could not tell from which the direction the casters of the Dispel Magic and Ice Storm came from. Your current field of vision is 60'. Beyond that is in inky darkness.
The light provided by the Wall of Fire made the group a rather easy target to find. :)
Mercy is still in contact with the minds of on of the spell casters. And it's not the one in the Solid Fog.

"This guy is a twit, 7th or 8th level," Pad thinks, "I'll handle this one myself, Melvin. I'll let you drain the big mage when we spot him."
Pad pumps a Magic Missile into the twit. On average, that should kill him outright. If necessary, Pad'll give him a second shot.
Then, he'll skim down towards the rest of the group. "Anyone spotted the main mage? I just offed an underling."

Once the Wall of Fire comes down, Mercy tells whom ever is near him that he is going after the mage whose mind he has locked on. Then he goes after the "well ordered mind" he's locked onto. If possible he will yell out the position of the Mage, and every time he moves.. Also if he can tell what spell he is going to cast he will yell the Seekers a warning. (I know that I don't know magical spell casting so what I am looking for is the description of what the spell does. His mind should automatically go thru a description when he comes up with a spell to use. I hope I am making sense. I know it'll be first time....:)..)
Once he gets into range Mercy will cast Hold Person on the Mage he has lock on too and only him.

"No kidding." I say to Steph, when she starts telling us we're easy targets when we're grouped together. "I wouldn't have guessed."
I quickly do a somersault forward, and bounce to my feet. I then look about and try to see where the mages are.
"Okay, does anyone have any ideas where the folks are?" I ask aloud, as my eyes rove about the place.

The fighter cries out in surprise as he's pelted by ice, then looks around angrily. He holds his sword in both hands, wanting something to give him a reason to sever it.

With that, Omni moves off quickly in a direction roughly opposite of the entrance they took into the cavern. If he sees anyone/thing out of the ordinary, he'll be prepared to stop and rethink things.

She then makes an unmistakable Stabbing gesture...
She'll look at Fiben for a moment for agreement before winking & sprinting off for the Wall & Darkness... taking the Clockwise Route...
Once she reaches the Wall & the Dark, she'll begin to creep as soundlessly as possible, hugging low to the Wall... watching Mercy & trying to catch anything between her & the Light & the Questing Cleric...
Should she (& Mercy... :> ), get Lucky Again, she will wait for his attack to pin the victim in place before sliding up to slip her Sword Home... with a twist... ;>

Sean is staying invisible and out of the fight. Losing a homunculus is a very bad thing. When fighting high-level mages, invisibility is only a defense when you stay far away from the action.

Pad fires Magic Missiles at the mage inside the Solid Fog and he goes down with one burst. That task complete, he flies back to the main group.
Elsewhere, Mercy moves off towards the mind he is in contact with. Kit follows at a distance.
Mercy finds his target some fifty into the darkness. The mind goes through spell casting and Mercy reads it! It reads very similar to a Cause Wounds spell, something Mercy is familiar with but with slight variations! First it is more powerful then what Mercy is used to and it can be used at range!
The spell goes off before Mercy can get his own spell off. A beam of black magical energy strikes Mercy and he is hurt by it!
As the caster comes into sight, Mercy and Kit can see two hulking figures flanking the enemy spell caster. These monstrous creations are unlike anything either adventurer has ever seen! They are a strange mish-mash of monster body parts! One has a huge chest, but small furry arms and the head of an orc! The other has a human arm, but the other arm ends in a claw!
It has the head of a lizard man, but fur covered legs!
Stephanie heads off into the darkness heading straight into the cavern. Finrod and Omni follow.
A voice can be heard close by, female and it sounds like spell casting! A swarm of four Magic Missiles slam into Finrod!
Wendy herself comes into view. Between the Seekers and Wendy are four humanoids. They are slightly bent over, but a hellish red glow comes from their eyes! Their skin is old and wrinkled, but their hands end in sharp glows. These humanoids scurry to defend their mistress.

"Here, this will help mend your wounds. Which group do you think we should follow?"

Hey, Perrel not only took Fiben's next line, he took his next somersault. ;D
First off, just before leaving the place the wall of fire had been, Fiben casts his next spell on himself. He casts Blur on himself.
When Kit slaps him, Fiben just grins his approval and does a back flip out of the circle. He agrees with her about getting back against the walls to get the opponents silhouetted in the middle. But rather than go for any backstabs, he keeps his bow in hand. He just has more faith in his archery skills.
I'm not sure how much Fiben can see, he moved off into the dark in the opposite direction of Kit, but I'm assuming he can see Wendy since she has stepped into view. He has a score to settle with her! As soon as he sees her, he fires a couple arrows at her quickly, then cartwheels at least 10 feet to the side, trying to stay in the dark and to keep anyone from getting a fix on him. He'll then Fire at Wendy again, and cartwheel outa there again, ect.
If by chance he stumbles on an opponent in the dark, or anyone charges him, he grabs his sword and calls on his memories of Blind Fighting at night to hack them up. Following Kit's example, he'll whoop and holler to let everyone know where he is.

Umm... Mad... doesn't Fin have a Broach of Shielding? I thought those protected the wearer from magic missiles?
Anyway, on noticing both Wendy and the critters standing between himself and her, Finrod casts a Fireball, centered ten feet beyond the wench. If any of the opponents are still up after that, or if Fin, Steph and Omni can see the other combat going on, he will then cast Haste, centered so that our three valiant heros are in the radius, but none of the bad folks are... he'll then resort to the old-fashioned Hack-N-Slash of melee combat.
If we end up fighting the big bad mage, Fin will look for an opportunity to try his Color Spray out on the fool, but will not pass up any good openings for melee while looking.

If not, he'll be ready to join the neighboring melee if needed, but first make a priority of looking around for any other emerging threats.

"I say we help whoever's closest." I say to Schar, while wiping the excess from around my lips with my sleeve.

"Thanks for the potion." I say with a smile, before pivoting back, and attacking the closest enemy.

Pad spots Wendy and company. "Well, they say they killed her. Question is if she was brought all the way back to life, or only halfway back?" Pad thinks to Melvin. "What's say you hit her with a Feeblemind and see what happens?"
After that happens, Pad's attention is attracted by the shouting of Kit. Pad will cast a Demi-shadow Monsters spell and cause 2 Owlbears to appear and attack the mix-and-match zombies. He'll follow that up by casting Melf's Minute Meteors and ripping them into the zombies' master as quickly as possible.

Claudius had heard Mastiff (?) talk about having a mental lock on an enemy spellcaster.
"SCATTER!", he roared, simultaneously with Stephanie and others, as he ran out of the storm's way.
He follows the cleric at a distance, arriving just in time (I hope!) to see Mastiff belted by the black light.
He glares at the enemy mage, and his eyes narrow:
"DIE, FIEND!" He unleashes his MM, targeting the enemy mage. Though not causing as much damage, it's a quick spell and might stop the enemy from casting in turn. He will deplete his supply of MMs, not retreating unless the big bad guardians come after me.

The conflict with the Zombie Master and friends continues...
Kit puts the Zombie Master into the spotlight, making him an easy target! Claudius hits him with Magic Missiles, but the ZM is still active.
Mercy makes it to the strange creatures guarding the Zombie Master before Kit can pull him back. Mercy swings Common Sense, but misses.
The creature swings back with each arm and nearly floors Mercy with one nasty strike!
In a flash, Blod is beside Mercy and lays into the other creature with two mighty swings! Remarkably, the creature survives and returns the favor to Blod, striking the fighter twice and knocking him on his rear.
Elsewhere, Perrel gulps down the Potion of Healing from Schar. Finding Wendy and her guards the closest, they head towards them.
Fiben casts Blur on himself and goes to secure an position to fire arrows at Wendy.
Speaking of the wench, Finrod's Broach of Shielding drinks in her Magic Missiles. (I forgot :/) Fin strikes back and centers a Fireball behind her and her guards!
The Fireball explodes and all four foes are momentarily engulfed in fire! All four also survive the attack. Two of the creatures are badly charred!
Drawn by the Fireball, Pad comes flying in and recognizes the creatures with Wendy as Wights!
Stephanie and Omni draw their swords and attack! The two charred wights fall easily to their magical steel.
The last wight leaps at Stephanie, but misses with it's sharp claws.
Pad instructs Melvin to cast Feeblemind on Wendy and it complies, happy to finally be able to do something! Wendy's face, normally a mask of hatred turns into confusion.
Unknowing of this development, Fiben lands a volley of arrows into Wendy and she falls over.
Omni and Stephanie team up and the last wight does not have a chance. Perrel and Schar arrive in time to see the undead creature fall.
Elsewhere, Mercy reads the mind of the Zombie Master and finds him going into casting of another Wound spell directed at Claudius.
Claud is faster and tags ZM with his last Magic Missile. The Zombie Master is alive and getting angry!
Kit quietly begins to circle the battle site.
Mercy strikes back and hits his bizarre foe. Close by Blod finishes off the other mix-n-match creature.
The last creature swings at Mercy, but misses this time.
Once more ZM goes into spell casting and simply disappears! Mercy's mind link is gone. Mercy believes the spell to have been Plane Shift.
With only the last mix-n-match creature left, Kit stops and pumps a pair of arrows into it.
Pad appears over head opts to simply hit it with Melf's Minute Meteors, instead of conjure Demi-Shadow Monsters. The creature is set ablaze, it's burnt fire creating an interesting and new odor. ;)
Blod finishes it off with a swing of his great sword.
The excitement seemingly over, the Seekers check the rest of the cave out. Apart form yourselves, Wendy and the Piercers, there are no other creatures in the cavern.
Several small side caves are found that appear to have been the living areas for the group. They are rather spartan and give the impression that the ZM was in the process of moving on.
One very smelly cave holds rotting bodies and miscellaneous body parts.
Meanwhile, back at the Keep, Dani has seen to getting Tania to a place where she can rest.
He heads to the chapel to give thanks to Mystra. When he arrives there, he hears screams and rushes to investigate.
Inside he finds a woman in Azrellan Blue. She is Maya, the High Priestess of Azrella for this keep.
"Horrible! Horrible!", she screams.
No one or thing are about. Spotting Dani, Maya goes towards him shouting.
"A vision! The Blue Lady has given me a vision! A great darkness shall come over the land and engulf the innocent! I have seen it!"
She pulls away and tries to regain her composure, but fails.
"They thought him dead. They are wrong. He lives and plots. The Emperor Keln still lives!!"

Claudius looks around once the battle is done, and relaxes. His tactic of using short-casting time spells worked. Now, just to up the damage!
"Okay people...Good job." He smiles. He pauses to look at Wendy, however: "Someone tie her up. Mercy, you're injured, so how about you go back to Gateway and turn her over to the guards. She must stand trial for her crimes."
As for the other bodies, he speaks: "Burn them all."
He looks around. "Okay, we ALL explore each room, together. We may go as slowly as a turtle, but I don't want to miss anything, and I don't want to be picked off."
When he sees the various body parts though, he cringes: "Someone torch that mess!"
He looks at Omni: "Anything to add/ change?"

Fiben smirks when Wendy goes down and mumbles, "Burn me will ya?"
Although the party is searching the place together, Fiben makes sure he is first or as close to first as possible each time they enter a room. He wants to make sure none of the more valuable party members get ambushed. And besides, he's a scout, its his "job", danger be d*mned.
But when they enter the room full of rotting body parts, Fiben quickly exits and grips his stomach, and his nose, mumbling, "do not throw up, do not throw p." soon as he gets a grip, he offers to help burn the mess, using his lamp oil and flint-n-steel if necessary.

"Claudius, I must counsel against letting Wendy live... I, too, was determined once to bring her to trial and punishment. All that I succeeded in doing was bringing disharmony and strife to the party--and as you see, Wendy returned to haunt us. Kill her now, and place the body in that charnel house of a spare-parts cave. Burn her with the other dead, so that we may be sure we will never have her at our backs again. Is it not enough that the Zombie-Master has survived, and may now assemble yet another army for us to deal with? He may be cleverer in employing them next time. I plead with you; allow me to destroy this wench!"
The Elven mercenary multiclass looks at Claudius and Omni pleadingly, his gray eyes gone as hard as steel.

The warrior's knowledge of spellcasting is mundane at best, but he still offers suggestions...
"Are there any spells we could use to trace the Zombie Master? If we don't track him now, while he's hurt, he'll only come back after us once he's better. Is there any way to interrogate Wendy on his whereabouts?"
"And as far as Wendy herself... she must be taken back to Gateway for justice. I will not stand here and watch a helpless foe be killed... I'll take her myself, if necessary."

"Say, Fin, don't these things look familiar? Kind of like that Mountain Monster thing we fought? If Wendy's father made that thing, could it be possible that this Zombie Master is really Wendy's father??"

The Elven multi-class opens the chest in his backpack and removes a length of rope. He uses this to tie up the backbiting wench. The bonds are excessively large, and cruelly tight.
Also, while he is in the chest, he will remove all the oil he has in there... it ain't much, intended only to fuel lamps, but it'll help with the torching task.
